We were lucky enough to be staying near this branch of Trobador so we gravitated there on several occasions.
We had breakfast there and also a late supper.
What I am really reviewing though is the three course meal we had on our last night- it was devine.
I can definitely recommend the Iberian ham on the slate and artichoke chips for starter for two to share. The tastes and textures were sublime together.
The walnut, bacon and cheese salad and the filled bottini as mains were wonderful.
What absolutely stole the show for us was the heavenly truffles as dessert, four wonderful little parcels of slightly chewy chocolate heaven on little beds of cream, finished with mint leaves. Perfection- probably the best truffles I have ever tasted.
All this washed down with local beer and wines made for a very pleasant meal. We sat outside, taking advantage of the fact that although it was cool temperature wise for Barcelona, it is wonderful to be able to enjoy such a meal while sitting outside.
Although the staff weren't the greatest English speakers, we managed and they were polite and jovial.
Again it was busy with locals- something we like to see.
Can definitely recommend!

Nice place. Good service. The food was not so impressive. Had shrimps for starters, and the garlic was burned. Ruinied it a bit for me.. Overall, ok.

We loved this restaurant. The menu was in English but the wine list was not. Our waitress's, while very lovely, did not speak English. We got another waiter who's English was great and recommended a wine when we explained we would like a dry Sav Blanc, his selection was perfect. We stayed for 3course meal consisting of tapas, main, desert. And had 2 bottles of the wine finishing off with a few muscats, just lovely. Try the chefs suggestion steak, melt in the mouth. It comes with veges but no sauces, when I asked, we got a spicy capsicum, basil combination which complimented thesteak perfectly. Desert creme caramel, yum and the apple pie, also yum. I will return here when ever in Barcelona again.

We were recommended this restaurant by our hotel (u232) as somewhere to eat on an otherwise quiet Sunday night. It was my birthday and we were not disappointed by the recommendation.
We ate 3 courses, each well prepared and served and drank the house wine (not bad either) and enjoyed the whole experience. The menu was also in English which helped us along, but we were advised well by our friendly waiter.
Thank you El Trobador.

I never expected their paella to be authentic and good cause this restaurant has a lot of branches and normally its commercialized food that they serve. To my surprise, their paella was good! We ordered calamari prawns, and sangria to match. Everything that we ordered was a hit! I will come back again to trobador when i visit barcelona.
