We asked at our hotel for a place that would serve us before 9:00 pm and they suggested this family run restaurant. It was so good that we went back with the rest of our travel group of seven people on the last day of our stay in Barcelona. The food was excellent and ordering was easy because some of the staff spoke English quite well. We let them select the tapas for us and then we selected our main course. We were able to dine at 7:00 pm without a problem. I would recommend this place for a great local meal.

I visited here a couple of years ago and got good food and poor treatment. Still good food (a bit pricey) and friendly service but very disorganised. Waiters ran around a lot, smiling, attentive and cheerful but were somewhat disorganised: for example, we asked for the bill, the waiter passed us several times, smiled, said it was on its way but it arrived almost 20 minutes later. But I would consider visiting again.

L'amfora was recommended by Raul at the tryp Apollo.absolutely amazing food and beers. 2.80 beer. Tapas excellent fideo and clams seafood loaded with shrimp clams calamari. With the taste of paella. Problem. We walked into an empty restaurant at 6pm to eat dinner after disembarking our fabulous Oceania two week cruise, checking into our fantastic type Apollo hotel and sightseeing for nine hours on the most amazing jump on jump off Barcelona tour bus and we were starving. The hostess asked if we had a reservation and we did. She said ill find you a table. THE RESTAURANT WAS EMPTY. Several more customers came into the restaurant and was greeted in the same rude manner. Did not make us feel very comfortable. I know the Spanish eat lunch at3 pm and dinner eleven pm but we don't. The doors of he restaurant were open for business and empty. A Japanese translator escort led a couple in and was treated the same way very polite she was but felt they were rude too after we spoke. I made sure I spoke loud enough for the waitress to hear. When the bill came she comped us a lemoncello and desert. Be careful the water is 2.80 euros, they charge for the bread, olives tomato and garlic hey place on the table when you sit own 2.80 each for bread and what they call refreshments. Would be nice if hay asked. Water 2.80 beer 2.80. We asked cancelled the water got the beer duhhhhh. An vodka tonic was 9 euros but they brought the whole bottle of absolute to the table. I told them TAKE IT AWAY. Hey we are learning. But I would go back. The food was amazing at 15.50 euro each. Good price portion hugeeeeeeeee.

Recommended by hotel and was excellent! VERY nice manager and wait staff. We arrived early (by Barcelona standards), and they graciously accommodated us. Staff acquainted us with tomatoes/garlic/bread and the BEST olives ever! Tapas dinner was very good, lots of variety. Service was very good, well paced, attentive but not obtrusive. Reasonable price, good value. Excellent coffee ("cafe americano") once we figured out what to ask for! Would definitely recommend to others.

It is a good sign for a restaurant when the chef is the owner. This place is not in the main tourist area and has more locals than most other places. We had a great birthday celebration here and were treated with a complimentary dessert. The menu was traditional Catalan, but the prices were a bit on the high side. A dinner for two with half a bottle of house wine came to nearly €100.
