“Great but ancient”
Reviewed June 2, 2012

Good wide range of contintental breakfast and the kitchen is free to use at anytime.
Diego, multi task worker is very warm and friendly. I never seen such a extremely clean Bed & Breakfast in my entire life.It is convenient and cheap.
The only set up is on the 2nd floor of an old building and the lift is an antique with 2 doors.

Room Tip: My room is at the back.

If you want a basic place close to everything, this is it! Diego makes it! We travel a lot and this is what we expect when looking for affordable, convenient basic accommodation. Within walking distance to La Rambles, tour buses, restaurants and Metro stops this place really fills the bill. If you want a Holiday Inn, don't go. If you are a seasoned traveler and like the 'local color' is is a great find.

I recently stayed here as part of a large group that booked out all of the rooms. Diego the housekeeper was extremely helpful and friendly and of course left us to our own devices when we were in the apartment.

My room's window overlooked an internal light well so even though there wasn't a view as such, it was very quiet and the ensuite was nice to have. As our group had booked out the whole apartment I was able to check out the other rooms, and I'd say mine was probably the least modern but it was still a nice base to explore the city from.

The beds were comfy with plenty of pillows provided and I had plenty of clean towels. Breakfast was the usual cheese, meats, croissants and preserves and seemingly unlimited juice and coffee. It's not silver service but its everything you need - plus you can always stock up the fridge in the kitchen with your own food.

The building is close to some nice bars and restaurants although there wasn't much road noise. There are two elevators aswell so being on the third floor wasn't a big deal either.

Room Tip: The twin room off of the lounge had a shower over the bath rather than just a shower cubicle. The r...

This Bed and Breakfast is no B & B but really a low class hostel. And it is DIRTY! Our room was dirty, the common areas were dirty, the kitchen, oh yes, it was dirty too. The dish cloth used for washing the dishes was so old, dirty and moldy, you didn't even want to think about it being used to wash the dishes and yet I'm afraid it was. With our prepaid stay of six nights, the sheets were never changed. We needed to ask for blankets for the beds as there were just sheets on them upon arrival. Our room had two beds, one of which was nothing more than a very squeaky old cot. We needed to ask for clean bath towels. Our room and the common areas were furnished with old, tired, dirty, mismatched furnishing. Security seemed to be an issue. You had to double lock the dead bolt on the front door at all times. Made you wonder what went on in this neighbor. The couple that managed this were nice but not at all helpful. No maps, no suggestions on where to eat or things to do. It was a hugh disappointment to say the least...

This hotel/apartment is nothing like it is in the photos that advertise it. Although after having read the reviews maybe we just got a bad room. Deigo...doesn't work here anymore and the person who helped check us in was not very helpful at all. Just into our room and then no contact again. We could not even get a map of the city. Room was small with inefficient aircon. Bathroom was tiny with a horrible shower head and drain that continually blocked. You had to stop the shower at least 3 times during your shower to prevent it from overflowing. Bed was very creaky, hard and pillows uncomfortable. If you stay here don't expect anything like is in the photos and just expect a bed and minimal breakfast. And find your own city map!

The sweet and helpful managers helped make our stay more comfortable, and were among the best things about the place. The room itself wasn't the greatest. It was tiny and dark, with the window overlooking an internal light-well. We were woken by loud renovations in the neighbouring room on the first two mornings, but I believe that's all finished now. Our bed was extremely creaky, the walls needed re-painting (painters arrived as we were leaving so hopefully that's fixed) and the plumbing made strange, loud noises. That said, I think we had the worst room - some of the others looked nice, so ask for the front room which overlooks the street, or one overlooking a large courtyard. The common areas are nice, and having use of the kitchen to make tea, coffee etc made us feel at home. Breakfast was more than adequate, and it was nice to sit at the communal table and chat with other guests each morning.
Overall, we were happy with our stay. The location is handy, with the metro stop just a few steps away, and the lovely El Born area within walking distance, or just a metro stop or two away. Las Ramblas is within easy walking distance, but it was good not to be right on this main strip, which has been overtaken by dodgy hawkers, prowling ladies and seedy bars.
The price was reasonable for what it offers, and I wouldn't recommend against staying there, but would just say, weigh up your options and choose your room carefully.

Room Tip: Ask for the front room overlooking the street.

I really don't like to write negative comments however this wasn't one of our best choices. The beds were very hard, pillows uncomfortable, funny smell in the room, breakfast not so good but yes, good location however for the money i wished we would have looked elsewhere.
