Description: If you are looking for an authentic tapas bar, with the same dishes (anchovies, sausage tomato salad with onions, anchovies and olives and fried sardines) than when it was founded in 1945, where you can enjoy an exceptional wine, do not hesitate. Tourists and lifelong parishioners, anonymous and famous guests (from Ferran Adria taking a break from his techno-emotional cuisine to Daniel Bruhl preparing his next film or Bono, from U2, tuning his voice); all of them looking for a place in one of the six tables of this charming restaurant in the heart of the Gothic Quarter, a reference and an institution of tapas in Barcelona.

If you have a craving for fried sardines, come here - they're incredible, especially paired with the salad (tomatoes, onions and little olives). The tomato bread is less special. If you don't feel like sardines, though, go somewhere else, as that's just about all they serve. The food is really quick and the waiters are nice, and at about 2.50 a plate the food is more than well priced!

We did a Segway tour of Barça and our guide recommended this restaurant. He wasn't lying when he said it was simple, but tasting food. The owner was very kind, and although didn't speak English, we were able to communicate well. The menu consists of 4 dishes, so when going ask for everything - we orderd a few more items again and our bill was €25. A must visit.

This very little place was recommended by a tour guide. The house specialty is an inexpensive (2.50 e) plate of fried sardines. They're really good and worth trying. Plus 1.10e for a small pour of wine. They keep it simple and its a great little stop.

Love the sardines! The atmosphere is lovely. Makes you feel like you are in old time Spain. Wish we would have found this the first night.
