I stayed at the ME in Barcelona for a conference recently. I have stayed in many hotels in the area and there is no doubt this is a really nice one however I do think it might be trying to be a little too cool. The rooms were nice but room service was appalling - I had to call 3 times before finally getting a pretty basic order. The bar is nice and the breakfast is definitely worth staying for. Absolutely lots of choice and really good food. I will definitely go back and try it again as I am not sure I saw it at its best!

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view - high floor

Lets start with what I love about it:

1) I like the overall layout of the room. It is unique. I can see the Mediterranean sea from my window. The bathtub is separated by a glass with blinds and the other side is the bed. This bathtub blind separation has the option to be down or up depending on your mood. If it is up, you can also enjoy the natural light coming from the floor to ceiling window glass overlooking the Mediterranean sea.

The furniture in the room are so funky from the Divan sofa to the lights. Very well designed.

There is a mini-bar, safety deposit box, iron, ironing board and hair dryer in the room.

Bed is absolutely comfortable.

2) Reception Staff are excellent from the time of check in to check out. They even offer to mail my postcards, affixed the stamps themselves and charge the stamps to my room. I like this very much as not all postcard selling places sell stamps as well.

3) The breakfast is absolutely delicious and plenty! If you cannot find anything you like or can eat, you have a problem. They are freshly made, lots of vegetables, salad, cheeses, boiled eggs, fried eggs, two types of juices, you name it! You need to try their croissants.

4) Location is walking distance to Metro. We felt safe walking around at 10 pm.

ME Barcelona needs improvement in the following:

1) Housekeeping:

We stayed for two days and checked in around 5 pm on the 1st day. The bed was in pristine condition. On the 2nd day, we started touring right after breakfast. We came back at 5:30 pm and the bedroom is in exact state as we left it in the morning. We thought of calling the housekeeping but we were so tired and needed rest. At 6pm, housekeeping knocked at our door and wanted to clean the room. By that time, all we need is a quick nap and we refused.

2) Breakfast starts at 7 am - we were told. We are early birds because we go for early touring. At exactly 7 am, we were downstairs and was told by someone (who was wearing a Chef outfit) that she needs more time to set up. We respected that. By 7:10 am, she still has not come out at the lobby to signal us that we can come in. By 7:15 am, we went back to the breakfast restaurant and advised one of the staff (not the one with Chef outfit) that we have to eat because we have an early tour. The one with Chef Outfit came out and I explained in as much Spanish language I can muster that it is now 7:15 am and our tour starts at 8 am. She did not say much and just signalled one of the staff to let us come in.

Overall, ME Barcelona is a great hotel. We were not able to use the rest of the facilities due to early touring. It was also wet and rainy during our visit; hence, was not able to use the swimming pool.

I will certainly come back to ME Barcelona and will recommend it to my friends. Hopefully, the minor mishaps will be improved

We were here two weeks ago and stayed with my lil baby boy. The hotel was pretty good and the rooms clean. It's a hit and is with the people at the reception as to how much attention they give your problem. We reached in the afternoon and after the heat of barca was disappointed with the heat in the room which made it very uncomfy for us. After repeated complaints the air conditioning was fixed at night all coz of the professional night staff at the reception. Wish the morning staff were the same! The breakfast was super awesum with all kinds of spread. The server staff was just beyond brilliant. So helpful with my baby.
Anyhow the location is excellent and apart from a few issues the stay at the hotel is super. It's about less than ten euros to the main la ramblas. And about 30 to the airport. And it's very close to the glories mall and the diagonal mars mall.
Hope it helps!

Room Tip: It's a pretty warm hotel so make sure your air conditioning works specially in summer.make a fus...

I have stayed at the ME Barcelona on four different occasions. The last three times my experiences were pleasant although I did notice that the conditions of the rooms and bathrooms were being somewhat neglected. In the past, I have always stayed at the Level or in a suite. This time we were traveling with two friends so we opted for an Aura room with sea views.
Aside from the conditions of the room, we were forced to quarrel with the front desk agent upon arrival when she had erroneously assigned us smoking rooms and with views of a parking lot. It was only upon requesting to speak to the general manager that she conceded in providing us the properly reserved rooms. The need for arguing ensued again with the front desk check-out clerk when he insisted that we had not prepaid for the room prior to our arrival. Although we were in a hurry to leave for the airport, we were forced to open our suitcases and search for our receipts to confirm that we did indeed had already paid for the rooms. Both employees at the front desk were not only disrepectful but extremely rude and we all spoke Spanish fluently.
On this visit, we also noticed that both of the rooms we were finally assigned were in a deplorable state. The bathroom sinks were scratched and stained. The showers were surrounded by mildew. The shower head in my room was falling off the wall. The ceramic floors in both the rooms and bathrooms were scratched and cracked, the curtain in our friends' room was falling off the rod, the mattresses were extremely uncomfortable and to top it off, the wood door covering the a/c opening in the ceiling fell on my friend's head upon opening the door.
It is a shame that such a new and beautiful hotel has been allowed to deteriorate in such a way!
On a positive note, the servers and employees of the downstairs restaurant, lounge and Dos Cielos were marvellous and we highly commend them.
As to the those we delt with from the front desk, there is no excuse for having to expose the hotel guests to their behavior given that there are more than 6 million unemployed people in Spain!
After our departure, we did complain to hotel management and they have been very apologetic.
Hopefully, management will correct both the condition of the rooms and the attitude of some of their employees before the hotel looses its 5 star rating.

Room Tip: Not a 5 star anymore!

Alittle late but better then never...lol! My sister and I stayed here May of 2011, nice quite neighborhood, walking distance to a stripe mall and a hop and off bus. Very attentive staff and cont. breakfast was good for the start of each day! Would highly recommend. Only words of wisdom if you like quite night sleeps, get a room that isn't overlooking the pool, it gets alittle noisey at night, the Spaniards are night owls :-))

Had a really great stay with my 13 year old son at ME Barcelona.
Reception were friendly and welcoming - early check in was no problem.
The room was modern and well equipped - nicely decorated and all amenities you would need.
Breakfast was fantastic - so much choice.
The Level lounge had amazing views and a lovely retreat from the main part of the hotel. Great choice of drinks and snacks and plenty of space.
Wifi worked mostly everwhere except on the bed in the suite at times - otherwise very fast.
Pool was small but fine for time of year - sure in summer it probably is a lot busier.
Location wise - great if you don't want to be right in the centre of town. Metro is a 5 minute stroll away and 10 mins into centre. Diagonal Mar shopping a short walk away as well.
Staff overall friendly and very helpful
I would definately return! Thank you ME!

Room Tip: City view rooms are great - you can see all of Barcelona

We booked the Me through Mr. and Mrs. Smith. It's a high-rise hotel with a very contemporary style. Our room was on the 25th floor, with a beautiful ocean view, and was large, modern and comfortable. The public areas are attractive. Guests in certain premium rooms are permitted access to an all-day lounge, where drinks and a few tapas are available. Breakfast was included in our rate. This was a typical hotel buffet which could be improved. Most of the "hot" food was actually cold.

While the staff were very helpful, there were often long queues at the front desk. A few more staff members in the lobby area at busy times would be helpful.

The Me is not ideally located. It's about a Euro 10 taxi ride to the city center. There is a metro stop about five minutes' walk away though, so public transportation is convenient. This neighborhood is newly developed and lacks charm. However, the Me offers excellent value, and we would not hesitate to visit again.

Room Tip: Request an ocean view room on a high floor if available.
