“Delicious and healthy Indian vegetarian food worth the walk from Sagrada Familia!!”
Reviewed December 25, 2012 via mobile

We are on a 2+ week trip around Netherlands, Belgium, France and Spain. Being vegetarians our options have been limited so far so we were thrilled to find an Indian vegetarian restaurant close by after our visit to Sagrada. We were not disappointed!!

We got the thali at Veg World which included an impressive salad bar (with the usual suspects of salad veggies, roasted peppers, eggplant, onions, mushrooms, hummus, olives, tapenade, soup, and more.) The thali plate had some of the best non-cream based black dal I have tasted, veggie sabzi, tandoori naan, rice, pickle. There were 3 dessert choices and we sampled two of them -- very nice! To top it all off, we were served elaichi chai.

Overall we couldn't have asked for a better experience and our souls woke up after the first bite of naan-dal. Do try Veg India if you are around and are craving for some authentic Indian food.

“Very authentic tasty Indian food!”
Reviewed December 19, 2012

Very tasty authentic Indian food. Not oily, looks freshly cooked and tastes awesome. I am in love with their spinach Kofta curry. Real naans - not the thick bread like ones! The restaurant is a 2min walk from the metro which is a plus!

Lunch thali for some €9 euros is such a bargain - soup, salad(unlimited), naan, rice, curry, daal, a dessert (mango kulfi is very good) and coke! Quantity is just enough to call it a satisfying meal.

I strongly recommend this little hidden gem. To Indians visiting Barcelona - if you are craving for home cooked desi food - this is the place to go!

“great staff, nice feel food too salty!”
Reviewed November 10, 2012

as vegetarians barcelona is not an easy for us! So after some researching on the internet we decided to head over to try our favourite Indian food.
The restaurnat was lovely and the staff were great. However our food was so salty! I could not eat more than two mouthfuls! Maybe there is a difference between authentic Indian food in the UK and that in Spain so some palettes may like that much salt but unfortunately not for us. So 5* for service 1* for food (and rice is very overpriced!)

“Authentic food and great atmosphere.”
Reviewed November 4, 2012

Being an Indian vegetarian, me and my partner were on the lookout for suitable restaurant to cater towards our needs during our short break in Barcelona. After doing some brief research on the internet we discovered 'Veg World India.' We came to realize the opening times for this restaurant are 1pm-4pm and 8pm-12am (closed on Monday), after turning up a little early! You get an authentic feeling from the decor in this restaurant, with photographs showing pictures of India and sacred objects. The popular options in this restaurant tends to be the thali which is 13,50 euros. However, knowing my Indian food I opted for the Bhindi baji (spicy okra cooked with tomatoes) and Channa masala (spicy chick pea curry) with naan. There was complimentary poppadoms and chutneys given to us for starters. Our food was served promptly. You could tell it was freshly prepared as it tasted delicious. We ordered orange juice which was natural as we could see it being made when we ordered it. Our food was served hot and our naan was fresh, crispy and a little flaky and a bit like a parotha (if you didn't know any better you would think it was a little undercooked but that's how its suppose to be). The only thing we were a little disappointed on, was on our bill, particular items were a little overpriced for the amount you get. Also, some items on the menu are way over priced for the effort and content which goes into the making- you would only know this if you ate this type of food regularly. However, as the food tasted out of this world - this restaurant is definitely worth visiting!!! The also apparently deliver all over Barcelona!!!

“Top nosh for lunch”
Reviewed October 27, 2012 via mobile

We were looking for a veggie option for lunch and decided to try here as we like curry to. We had the lunch deal which is a salad buffet, soup, nan and various curries as well as a fresh smoothie. The nan was more like paratha and tasted great. The salad was fresh and had some courgette(?) in olive oil plus seeds and nuts as well as the usual. The potato soup was excellent but the best thing was the curries which came on a metal tray a la school meals. Rice, mint yoghurt, bean curry, curry with broccoli, all great tasting without being too hot or oily. Staff were helpful and the service was quick. All in all a great find and a food feed! Will definitely return if we come back.
