The Barcelo Ravel is a modern, contemporary hotel situated in the centre of Barcelona, a very short walk from Las Ramblas. The hotel is circular in shape with the rooms situated around the outside and pool and bar on the roof.

The rooms are modern, stylish decorated and very clean. We had a good view from our room but not great as it was fairly low down, I'm sure some of the higher rooms would have great views. The room had all the facilities that you'd expect including a hot, powerful shower and well stocked mini-bar.

The staff were friendly and extremely helpful, even posting my friends iPod (that he left in the room) back to the UK.

The panoramic rooftop terrace and bar was fantastic. we sat and watched the sun set over Barcelona, enjoying the fabulous views and a cocktail or two!

The restaurant in the hotel was competent, if a little expensive, however as a whole the hotel offered excellent value.

In summary, a modern, relaxed oasis from which to explore the bustling city of Barcelona.

Highly recommended.

My husband and I stayed in the Barceló Raval for only one night unfortunately. From the moment we arrived we were made welcome and although we were early, we were immediately checked in without fuss. The overall decor of the hotel is really funky with large sculptures and soft neon pink and green lights.
The room was very nicely laid out with rainforest shower, nespresso machine, ipad dock and a very comfy bed.
On the 11th floor was a fabulous 360degree terrace with marvellous views of the city.
The staff were courteous, friendly and efficient and went to the trouble of printing out a map for us to find a restaurant that had been recommended to us.
Just wish we were staying longer

A clean hotel with spacious well equipped rooms, good breakfasts and a central location. A quiet tree lined Ramblas which was much better than the real one. 5 minutes to the metro and plenty restaurants on the doorstep.
Bathrooms not quite separate from the rooms and no boiling water for tea at breakfast, but I'd certainly choose it again.

Just having returned from a couple of wonderful days in Barcelona, I was shocked at how I/we were treated at the Barcelo Raval.

Apparently, the staff, doesn't care about manners or how to treat customers. It's unfortunate because the Barcelo Raval has one of the best locations and it could potentially be a better place, but definitely not with the current management.

It all started with the arrival, where we were looked upon as "unwanted". The guy at the check-in counter was irritated to work and barely smiled. His explanation of the hotel itself and the surrounding were inaccurate and brisk. Put since we all can have bad days, I was to let this go by, but for sure this didn't leave a good first impression.

Furthermore, the staff continuously ignores wishes of guests. Requests for additional coffee were ignored, cleaning was done rather late and walk ins, despite a "do not disturb sign", seem to be "standard".

Most disturbing of it all, was that I was asked almost every day "are you a guest of this house" while walking into the lobby by an older, suspicious looking "security" guard. Not only is this manner disrespectful to any guest, but also gives you a feeling that "there is something wrong" (of course, the backstreets of the hotel with the "ladies of the night" don't help to shake that feeling off).

Moreover on departure day, we were called out of our room 10 minutes after checkout time. The lady did not even ask but simply demanded that we checkout immediately in order to avoid further charges! Seriously, after 10 minutes !!!!

I've been traveling all over the world and stayed in some "sketchy" parts of some cities, but was never treated like this.

As mentioned, the hotel itself, is located perfectly off the "Ramblas" in the district "Raval". While I understand that this is not the best location for some (as Raval constitutes of 40% immigrants and prostitution is right around the corner), I've had no problems with the surroundings. Actually, many nice restaurants are around and I like the "alternative" feeling.

Quality of the hotel is acceptable too. Though, forget about the gym or spa and most definitely forget about the pool, too. It is more a bigger bathtub, then a pool.

The room was "nice" too. Though, I can understand that some might not like the open design.

So all in all, I highly recommend that you look elsewhere. You and your wallet deserve to be treated better!

Room Tip: If you really have to stay here, get at least a room on the 7th floor upwards.

Stayed here for 4 nights in April. First impressions were wonderful. The reception area is just as good as the photos. Our room was on the fifth floor. Amazing view from the bed. Could press the button from the bed for the electric curtains and watch the lights of the city at night. Food was beautiful. The dessert with the salt and cavier and chocolate truffles was amazing . Mario our waiter was very friendly and helpful. The shower in the bathroom was rainforest shower. Brilliant. The whole experience was great.

Not far from La Rambla, the Raval is a more authentic and peaceful area which gets busy and lively with locals later in the day. It is surrounded by some great hidden gem restaurants and curious shops. I was a little unnerved by the reviews of the "dubious area", but in fact we felt safer there than on La Rambla following numerous warnings of pick pockets and thieves.

The hotel boasts fantastic 360 degree views of the city from its roof top, however, the swimming pool could be better described as an ornamental pond. Swimming would be a challenge! We had a deluxe room with a fantastic view, lime green ceiling, pink mood lighting, remote control curtains, a massive bed and open plan bathroom with the shower dividing the room (I'm glad I travelled with my husband rather than a workmate). The whole hotel has a fun, designer feel. As you enter you are greeted by a horse wearing a lampshade!

We ate two evening meals in the hotel restaurant (B Lounge). The food was excellent. I would highly recommend the tapas and chocolate ravioli!

This hotel is well placed for all the attractions while far enough away from the tourist groups.

Trendy Hotel in great location. Rooms could do with a spray of mosquito repellent during cleaning as was eaten alive on first two nights which resulted in a couple of very uncomfortable nights sleep. Room was also not cleaned on one day. Staff turned up at 6pm when we were already back and preparing for the evening. Street directly behind the hotel a bit dodgy but easy enough to avoid. Overall though, great looking hotel and great base for exploring the city.
