“Amazing Hotel & Restaurant”

Incredible location, the hotel looks amazing with an old fashioned style and looking really wealthy. We got there by accident but it was the greateast of our Barcelona experiences. The restaurant has a great Chef, we tried some kind of gold ingot which tastes as amazing as it looks. We'll come back soon!

“Jewel in Bari Gothic”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 4, 2012

If a restaurant is defined by the quality of its food staff and location then Restaurant Neri wins on all counts.
From the first greeting from bar manager Guillermo we felt instantly welcome and enjoyed a glass of wine in the bar before we took our table for lunch. Desig (Desire) Penedes Xarello
Certain parts of the building date back to the 12th century and you get a real sense of the history combined with the warm contemporary design
Our starters included a soup, salad and confit vegetables
Main course of Hake and a filet of Veal
Cheese plate
Dessert of Tiramisu
Outstanding coffee
Everything was cooked well, all ingredients fresh, presented creatively and more importantly tasted excellent
Service was super friendly, efficient and towards the end of the meal the Chef Benito Iranzo came to our table to introduced himself. Due to our lack of Catalan the manager Montse translated and he offered us a look around his kitchen, showing us a haul of fish just collected from the Boqueria market. Nice touch.
The following day I brought another colleague for lunch and it was like meeting up with old friends.
Montse offered to change the lunch menu so I could eat something new, Guillermo offered further wine suggestions(Artadi 12 Meses Tempranillo) and we could not have been looked after any better.
A huge thank-you to Montserrat Benito Guillermo Arneau Lalaia and everyone who made our visits so special

“A surprisingly good set lunch”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 2, 2012

We went here after finding ourselves near Jaume metro and only having the Timeout guide to hand. It is located just behind the main parliament square there and is fairly simple to find. The interior is beautifully decorated creating a relaxing atmosphere to dine both for lunch and dinner.

We ate from the set lunch menu for c20 euros (including a glass of wine) and were impressed by the standard of food. The starter contained 3 plates in one, with little bowls each hiding a 'mini delight' of unusual flavour combinations. The other dishes continued along this theme of well presented, well-cooked food mixing more unusual ingredients.

For what started as a visit to 'just fill a hole' led to a dining experience which was one of our favourites in the city. Certainly worth trying, especially for the good value set lunch.

“Good food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 28, 2012

The menu was adequate for choice but found the portions a little too "artistic" for our tastes. An adventurous chef who obviously takes pride in presentation which was superb but a little pricey. Avoid the rabbity....only got for ribs and there's not much meat on a rabbit!!!!

“Disappointing Experience Special Seasonal Menu on the Terrace”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 23, 2012

I had high expectations of this restaurant and was looking forward to enjoying a nice dinner here due to their reputation and location. Unfortunately, my experience was ruined environment (drunk man bathing in the fountain and his buddy playing rock and roll with his guitar) and the food didn´t live up to my expectations.
Environment: We decided on terrace seating since the weather was nice and the location is amazing, a second later, the local transient came up to our table to ask for a smoke. The staff did nothing to ensure that their patrones were not being bothered by this person.

The food: We decided on their seasonal dinner menu which included an appetizer, soup, fish, meat, and two desserts.
Our appetizer was very unique and it was well presented. Oil, season salt and bread when combined it was suppose to taste like fried egg and it did! Also, very small popcorn type pork rhines and corn. and a vile filled with cherry tomato cold soup (gazpacho type). It was all around, ok. the flavors were new and not as comforting but pleasant.
our soup: Beet Root Gazpacho. Again, new flavor, if you´re not a fan of beet root then don´t order this. I enjoyed it but needed salt.
Fish: a bacalao very tender but TOO salty. with a very small scoop of couscous. couscous was good but if it had been a bigger scoop it wouldnt have been so good ( a bit over cooked). it was the perfect amount to taste and be happy. personally, I´ve had better.
Meat: duck with mushrooms. The duck was tough. Not at all pleasant eating experience. Mushrooms were very flavorful.
Dessert: yogurt with berries. the yogurt was pleasant but unfortunately the berries were sour, they should have been sweeter, at least for me.
2nd Dessert: chocolate brownie with an apple sauce, peanut butter sauce and ice cream. I was hoping for this to wrap up my mediocre experience but it killed it. The brownie was chewy, the sauces were less than average. I´ve had better at home.
Sprinkle this mediocre dinner with local transients: annoying
Next time (not sure if i´ll ever go back): sit inside and order off the menu this may yield a better experience.
