Had a great business meal here for 3 hours. We ordered the tapas tasting menu which was very nice. The menu is served in 3 rounds; starter tapas, fish tapas and meat tapas. All are very tasty and served in decent size portions. I don't get the bad reviews for this place; either they have drastically improved recently or the reviews are not in line with my experience. I loved the food.

The restaurant offers a huge wine selection. We ordered a nice red Spanish blend.

The place was buzzing and fully booked. The restaurant is ranked way too low - it should be within the top 100 in Barcelona at least. I will be back again and I can recommend the place to you.

We were 6 for our dinner at Arola and all of us loved it.

Arola is on the first floor of Arts hotel.
The decoration is definitely modern, mainly white yet warm. The music was not loud but spot on.
It was too cold for the terrace but that one must be fantastic weather permitting. The interior is a large room, where space is nicely separated in smaller areas which provide intimacy without isolating the table from the room. We sat on a table at the corner if the building, enjoying outdoor views through the glass walls and the spectacular wine cellar and bar on the other side.
Staff was young, dynamic, friendly and overall provides an excellent service.

What else did we like ?

First of all cocktails of outstanding quality. In particular the basil martini is a real killer. One of the best cocktails ever, which I tried and tried all through dinner which I never do usually.

Then the cooking. The chef is said to have worked with Gagnaire and Adria and has learnt it all. He is really a star: clams, crab, beef, cod, etc, etc it was a real delight, not to say beautifully presented, including the desserts.

In Michelin style, I'd easily give it one star, mid way to two stars. And then is the cocktail, the atmosphere, deco and all this made it a unique evening for us. Last but not least Arola is not cheap at all but very reasonably priced.

This is contemporary tapas with a twist, unlike much of what you'll find in the tapas bars around town. Portion size was inconsistent but all was beautifully presented with some interesting and delicious choices: the sea bass ceviche, chicken wings and beef loin were superb, but the cod fritters a bit bland and the scallops just too much! A very buzzy atmosphere with a couple of big groups while we were eating meant the service seemed a little frazzled at times and definitely out of synch with the service elsewhere in the Hotel Arts. That said, we did enjoy the evening.
