“Not sure is this place is closed down!?”
Reviewed October 26, 2012 via mobile

We tried to enquire here for the evening meal on Wednesday 24th October.
It looked like staff were clearing the kitchen out.
We tried to enquire but nobody really wanted to talk to us. Such a shame as we really wanted to experience this place.
Looked like it was been emptied. Staff surly and unhelpful.

“Barcelona's answer to the Village Vanguard”
Reviewed October 5, 2012

This subterranean club reminded us so much of NYC's Village Vanguard that we had to keep checking the wall art to remind us of where we were. We shared a cheese plate that came with fruit, jam bread and nuts- delicious. The wine was good, too. The music good enough for us to close the place down. Considering that that part of La Rambla is pretty kitchy and touristy, this was the real deal. the croud was mostly couples. The tables are tiny, but I would feel comfortable alone or with a small group of friends- not family or a big party.

“A real find.”
Reviewed June 11, 2012

We didn't plan to go here, but after walking out of another restaurant we were wandering aimlessly and happened to see the stairs leading down to this club. We were looking for food, any food, and the person outside told us that yes, they did some good food and there was a Jazz combo due on later so there would be a cover charge.

So, what the heck, we thought we'd give it a try which turned out to be a very good thing.

Downstairs was a small, intimate, restaurant with a small well equipped stage at one end and an excellent sound system. The acoustics were carefully tailored and there was no feel of being in a cellar.

We were met, seated and served by the manager who was a very nice chap and well relaxed, which relaxed us. Casual and very "jazz".

The food was excellent. I had smoked salmon to start and then their ""Steak tarter Spectacular" which was a spicy tarter made from good quality steak.Very enjoyable and washed down with the house red which was also very good.

Others had fish and steak and reported it excellent.

And as we finished eating and moved onto late night cocktails the Jazz started. An excellent quintet with superb keyboard and sax playing. That kept us going till late and we staggered home well content.

An unexpected evening but a real, and repeatable treat.

Aim to eat about an hour and a half before the act - we started at 10pm - and you'll have a good, nhurried, meal.

“Good atmosphere, meals a bit expensive”
Reviewed May 31, 2012

In total, there is a good atmosphere at the club and a beautiful design. Good performances. Meals, that they have offered, in my opinion, a bit expensive and not worth the cost. Recommends to have a dinner at a restaurant nearby and then come to the jazz show.
