“razor clams!!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 7, 2013

This place is crowded. Everything we ordered was really good. We especially loved the razor clams! Though, things quickly add up, since everything was on small plates, so watch your budget, because it's easy to drop $$$ here.

“Great Morning Stop”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 30, 2013

This is not a bar by American standards. Don’t expect to be doing shots and pick up women. This is a quaint little counter style eatery to the right of the main entrance of Mercat de la Boqueria off Las Ramblas. It was our breakfast stop every morning while in Barcelona. The value was great. The location was busy so we felt as if our time slowed down while the rest of the world flew by us. It had a nice non-private romantic feel. This is a tourist spot. The prices are a little higher than what you would find by your hotel, assuming it isn’t right off Las Ramblas.

The tortilla con patata bocadillo was a good filling start to the day. My wife had the vegetable omelet, which she said was ok. She did like the coffee that Juanito made. Café con leche day in and day out. On the last day we were getting ready to head to the airport so we wanted a lighter and sweeter fare. We tried the xuixo. The waiter we were talking to, which was the first time in 5 trips that we had seen him, told us they were out. Out of nowhere our normal morning guy tells him to hold on. He comes back a short while later and hands us what we were looking for. He said in Spanish, then broken English that “if anyone asks we called ahead for them.” Low and behold, people kept asking and they were denied. It was above and beyond service. He noticed we were 5 day regulars and treated us a little different than most of the other tourists. We were nice and he returned the favor.

I am going to beat a dead horse on 2 things: 1) Juanito is the best. There is a reason he has been on several travel shows in the US. 2) Please learn a little bit of the language prior to traveling or have someone in your group that can translate a little. I saw more than one person speak like the Spanish were deaf in an effort to get them to understand english, not get what they thought they ordered, or we confused and ordered the wrong thing. Don’t go blaming the locals because you didn’t understand what was going on. It’s the fun of traveling. If it wasn’t different why would you leave your home?

“Great food and fun experience!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 30, 2013

La Boqueria is a place to visit and a must-see!! The traditional tapas bar is fabulous and though we had to wait for 30min to get a seat at the bar I would say it was worth the waiting! The owner was very polite and friendly and the staff as well. If anyone would like to taste real traditional tapas then this is the place to go!

“Great Breakfast”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 28, 2013 via mobile

Stopped by for cafe con leche and a strudel type pastry. Luckily three places opened up shortly after we arrived. A very fun place with great owner, Juan.
