This restaurant was steps from our apartment and I had been looking for somewhere that had the traditional Catalan dish of white beans and sausage so we ate an early dinner there the night before our early flight home. We had an assortment of tapas and the white beans and sausage. It was all excellent. Potatoes bravas has become a new favorite. I also had an excellent glass of Cava, which I wish I had discovered earlier in our trip to Spain.

Attractive very modern, clean restaurant. We thoroughly enjoyed the quality and taste of all the tapas we selected but were so disappointed with the chuleton (prime/fore rib of beef). We asked for medium rare but it came med/well done and very thin. We pointed this out to the waiter and we said as it was so thin we would order another. This came quite rare and taken off the bone. It was thin again and almost cold and was not of the quality or taste of most Spanish beef which is excellent and very special normally!

We ate there twice the lunchmenu at midday for 10.50 euro, we could choose from 5 starters and 5 main courses and it included a drink and desert. They ran out of one of the mains but the friendly waiter proposed an other one. I found it to be one of the best menu deals in barcelona. There were a lot of locals as well which is usually a good sign, and it was! We went back to have dinner one night and the waiter recommended us the turbot and the monkfish, no regrets!!! The waiters are extremely friendly and helpful in giving information about the city and where to go etc. , they really seem to enjoy their job as they walk around with a huge smile all the time. I'll definitely go back when I'm in barcelona again.

Should have known better when we walked in and there was only 1 other table seated, but, the large varied menu looked alright, so we stayed.

First, they gave us a salad with ham (we cannot eat ham). They took it away, and brough us back the same salad with the ham removed from the top (it was still there under the lettuce).

Next, we ordered the sirloin. They brought us pork (we cannot eat pork). They insisted (rudely) that it was beef and brought a raw slab (which was a completely different shape, size and colour) to the table to convince us they had given us steak.

The waiter then insulted our religeon when we said we could not eat ham or pork.

Following this, I discovered hair cooked INTO my potato. I called the manager over who insisted it was not hair, as it was blonde, and the chef had black hair (He then brought the chef to the table to demonstrate).

Again, no apology. No removal of my plate. Instead, an accusation that we must have brought the (partially cooked) hair in ourselves to avoid paying for the meal.

We offered to pay for the appetizers and drinks, and the manager physically stopped us from leaving, threatening to call the police.

We picked this restaurant after reading an online review.

DO NOT EAT HERE. There are many lovely places to eat in Barcelona. Restaurant Chardonnay was the most appauling, disgusting, rude, disrespectful and nasty restaurant and experience one could imagine. It left us in tears on our last night in Spain.
