“Good Location”
Reviewed March 14, 2014

Myself and partner stayed at Hotel Curious for 4 nights in February. It was our first visit to Barcelona and we wasn't sure where to stay but having looked on previous reviews we felt this would suit us, we wasn't disappointed!

The location of this hotel is amazing, it is right on top of La Ramblas and within walking distance to the harbour.

The staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful with all of our requirements. The room was comfy a little on the small side however it was only to serve the purpose of sleeping in so it was more than suitable for our stay.

Breakfast is nice although not a huge choice of food available but it was enough to set you up until lunch.

If i were to visit Barcelona again i would stay here as it was clean, friendly staff and in the middle of everywhere we needed.

Dear Guest,

Many thanks for taking the time to share your opinion about our little hotel with other travel lovers on TripAdvisor

Hotel Curious is a small hotel located in the city center. It is perfect for short cultural stays in this wonderful city. Our rooms have a right size, we believe. And they are completely equipped with all necessary amenities and any extra can be ordered in the front desk.

As you mentioned, our staff is 24H at the front desk to help you with anything you may need: recommendations and any problem of any type.

Once again, thank you very much indeed, and we really look forward to welcoming you soon again at Hotel Curious.

Kind and best regards,

Artur Artigas

Superb modern hotel in excellent location next to Ramblas. Remarkably quiet. Matteo and all the staff could not have been more helpful. Rooms minimalist in a very positive way. Barcelona is not a place where you have time to spend in your hotel.

I booked this hotel for a city break for my friend and I and could not have been happier with the level of service and accommodation this little gem has to offer. The hotel is extremely well situated on a street of La Rambla one of Barcelona's main boulevards. From here it is easy to negotiate your way around the city, on foot or by public transport. The staff are very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable and always took the time to suggest places to eat and to help point us in the right direction. We had a twin room at the front with a balcony, the room was compact and some might consider it basic, but it was functional and comfortable and the en suite was spacious and well equipped with a hot powerful shower and bath. In addition to this it was extremely clean as were all area's of the hotel. The continental breakfast was very nice with a good selection of pastries, yoghurts, cereal, meats, cheeses and breads and frankly I think anybody would be hard pressed to find a city centre hotel that offered such good value for money in terms of location and comfort. I would also recommend a massage, which was one of the best I have ever had, it was a great start to a relaxed weekend. I would definitely return to Hotel Curious and will be recommending it to friends and family.

Room Tip: Would recommend room to the rear if possible as it is quieter.

Location terrific. Soundproof windows, Beds without plastic cover under the sheet. (Often found in 4-star hotels. Like sleeping on a raincoat.) And no cheap syntethic pillows (Often found in 4-star.)
Bad: No place to put your clothes and other things. Just a few hangers. After staying here I went on a cruise. The cabin there had like 10 times more space for luggage. If possible, don´t pay for breakfast. Though good coffee, It was dull. Lots of nice cafés within 100 meters.
If you are old like me, think twice before booking. Easy to have an accident when leaving the shower/bathtube. Think it was at least one month since the vaccum-cleaner had been under our beds. Like most hotels in this area, it is overpriced.(Had I paid 120€, the listprice, instead of 74€, I would have given 2 dots less.)

Room Tip: Room with (not deep) balcony No problem with noise from the street.

Dear Guest,

First of all, we would like to thank you very much for taking the time to write a review about us on TripAdvisor. Our guest’s opinions make all us improve our work and be better every day.

Hotel Curious is a small hotel located in the city center. It is perfect for short cultural stays in this wonderful city.

Our little boutique hotel is in Barcelona city center, as you pointed out, and this makes Hotel Curious a great spot to start your day in the city. Breakfast, WIFI...

The rooms are larger and better equipped than most hotels of our category. We are also working on several options for incorporating wardrobe in the rooms.

Regarding the prices, we would like to add that our rooms have a very similar price to hotels nearby. We believe that choosing Hotel Curious is a plus: very personalized service, 24h attention, WiFi and breakfast are included.

Once again, and as we said at the beginning, thank you very much for your great and complete review about Curious.

Looking forward to welcoming you soon again,

Artur Artigas,
Hotel Curious Manager.

Booked for the Mobile World Congress 2014 event when choices had become very limited. Actually Hotel Curious was a great find, and is a great place to stay just off La Rambla. Basic but comfortable and quite spacious rooms, and a very generous breakfast buffet. Close to a metro, so getting about the city is easy. The staff were very friendly and helpful, so I'd definitely recommend this hotel for a leisure stay in Barcelona. My only gripe is that the room prices - as with most for the MWC period - were marked up by 3 to 4 times their normal rate. At normal prices, it would be excellent value.

We had a lovely time at Hotel Curious located less than a block away from the main boulevard. It was easy to get everywhere. We booked the hotel for one night heading out on our cruise which cost less than 20 euros by taxi. The hotel was very hospitable offering advice and ordering our taxi. We took the bus from the airport in Girona and a short subway ride to get to our hotel without any challenges. Breakfast was adequate for a European with plenty of choices which filled the stomach. There are only a hand full of hotels serving free breakfast in Barcelona so this is really a big deal and to have it included in the price is outrageous. The room was small but also adequate for a short stay. The balcony was really great and it was the first time in all my travels I saw a trash can in the bath area for recyclables. The room was clean, nicely decorated and perfect for a short stay. If having a face cloth is a big deal for you bring your own. Great shopping, eats, and sights to be found nearby. There is also a reasonably priced salon two doors down. I popped in to get my nail repaired (rather costly at 5 euros -considering it costs 15 euros to have both hands done elsewhere) but the hair price was more than reasonable at 18 euros for a wash & blow dry. The hotel's recommendations for restaurants was great as well. Stay away from the massage however- just not worth it. You cannot go wrong with this hotel if you are one of those who careful of how you choose to spend your travel dollars. We will gladly stay here again when we return to Barcelona.

Room Tip: From what I could tell all the rooms were similar. Do be forewarned you will hear city noises, but...
