“Hotel Curious”
Reviewed May 7, 2012

The hotel is centrally located so we were able to walk to most places of interest ; only Sagrada Familia and Montjuic too far. Hotel very clean, breakfast fresh and plentiful and staff very helpful and friendly. Despite being so close to the centre and being on the first floor we were not disturbed by noise. Would certainly stay here again and recommend it to others.

Dear Guest,

Many thanks for your review on TripAdvisor!

Hotel Curious is a small hotel located in the very heart of the city: it is very easy to visit by foot all the main tourist attractions of Barcelona: all the gothic quarter with the cathedral, all the museums, plaça Catalunya, the harbour, Maremagnum, Las Ramblas (of course!), casa Batlló, la Pedrera... Sagrada Familia is about 30min walk and Park Güell and Montjuic mountain are the further ones.

We are so happy to hear that you had such a great experience with us!

We look forward to seeing you soon again!

Best regards,

Artur Artigas

I found this hotel on Trip advisor and decided to book a room for our 4 day stay in Barcelona. The stay was within our budget (in comparison to other hotels in the area). The room was contemporary, simple, clean and the bathroom spotless. If anything - I would have liked a fridge in the room (for all the goodies we bought at the market) - but, apart from that, it was all we needed.
The breakfast was fresh and enough to get us going for the day.
One of the highlights of this hotel is the fantastic staff. They were all friendly and exceedingly helpful. I broke a tooth while in Barcelona and they organised an appoinment for me with an excellent dentist within walking distance.
I highly recommend this hotel and will definitey stay there again on our next visit.

Room Tip: We had a room that over looked the street and it was fairly noisy - but it didn't worry us as we...

Recently stayed 2 nights after a cruise, before moving on to Madrid. Perfect location. Amazing staff. Room cute and cozy, with everything you need. Having said that, you have to know yourself, and if you need big rooms and every possible amenity that large chain hotel generally supply, this hotel may not be for you. The staff was friendly, most accommodating and well organized. They went out of their way to provide information, call taxis and even organized early breakfast for us before with left for our early morning train. We would stay here again if we were in town.

After reading the reviews, we booked for a 3 night stay after a Transatlantic crossing. On the Internet, the staff were friendly and prompt in their replies. Upon arrival, this continued- they allowed us to leave our luggage when we arrived early miring allowing us to explore this wonderful city for the day. they also provided us with maps, suggestions for transportation, sights to see and mon/touristy places to eat. There was no rush or suggestion we were bothering them.
The location is incredible- half a block off La Ramblas, steps from the wonderful market, la Boquerie and a 20 minute stroll to Placa Cataluna.
Rooms were comfortable and very clean!

This hotel is situated in a brilliant location - The Ramblas is a minute away and the hotel is just around the corner from the Market. The metro station (Liceu) is also conveniently close. In terms of value for money, you need to suspend your normal thoughts. It is much more expensive than what you get in return but this is what you have to pay at hotels in Barcelona, particularly in such a central place. The staff are extremely friendly. Karen in particular helped us a lot with advice when we checked in and gave us a discount card which you can use at nearby restaurants. The one in the Barra Gotic, Teller de Tapas, was particularly good. Breakfast didn't offer a huge range of food but was perfectly acceptable. The only negative was that there is lots of noise from the street and presumably the Ramblas. Bins are collected outside early each morning too and that causes a hell of a racket. If you can put up with that, then Hotel Curious will prove to be an excellent hotel.

Dear Customer,

Thank you very much for your nice review about Hotel Curious on TripAdvisor!
We are very happy that you enjoyed the attention received from the staff (advise, tourist information, restaurants, Curious Card with lots of discounts...), you also mention that you liked the breakfast and you were happy with the location of the hotel (city center). That is the most important for us.
Recently we have been awarded by TripAdvisor with the best quality-price relation hotels in Spain, so we do not really think that our hotel is expensive.
Regarding the noise, it is very soft, as all our rooms have double gass and it can not definitely be from Las Ramblas (we are 100 meters away), and Carme street is quite paceful.
We are very thankful for your lovely comments and we hope to see you very soon at Hotel Curious!

The Hotel Curious is a very good, centrally located hotel, just off the Ramblas and only five minutes walk from Plaza Catalunya, which is great if you take the airport bus and get off at the plaza. It's also perfectly located for walking down the Ramblas and into the Barri Gotic, and for visiting the Boqueria market. There are also several metro stations nearby to take you further afield. The rooms are very clean, modern and stylishly decorated and everything worked as it should. Breakfast was plentiful and is served until a very civilised 11am. The staff couldn't have been kinder, suggesting things to see in the neighbourhood and drawing attention to their Curious Card, which offered discounts in some local shops and restaurants. My only complaints were that there was some noise in the room (I had a single) and that the room was overheated. My room was next to the lift and I heard it groan into action early in the morning. After the first night I asked if I could change rooms and they said it wouldn't be possible as they were fully booked (but offered me earplugs), but on the second morning they said a room had become free, so I was able to change without any hassle. I simply packed up my bag and when I returned later, it was waiting for me in my new room. They also advised me to take my keycard out of the electricity slot in order to turn the heating off at night, saying that for Barcelona, April is still a cold month so the heating stays on all night. In my second room, I had the sound of snoring from an adjoining room on the first night, followed by a loudly whining dog from adjacent flats on the second night - but that's not something the hotel could do anything about and by then I'd got used to wearing my earplugs! So take earplugs! Excellent value and I'd definitely book there again.

Room Tip: Avoid being next to the lift if at all possible.

Dear Customer,

Thank you very much for such a lovely review of Hotel Curious on TripAdvisor, and thank you also for taking the time to do so. All our reviews are very important for us: without them we could not improve our work!

We are very sorry for your bad experience with the next door neighbour: unfortunately we can not avoid snoring or barking dogs on the other side of our hotel walls... Believe us, if we could we would!

We hope you found the Curious Card useful! We looked for great places to offer a discount to you. The only aim is to recommend you good places at the best price.

For us it was a pleasure to have you as a guest in the hotel and hope to see you again in Barcelona.

Best regards,

we had a great 4 night break over easter and can't praise the hotel and the staff, especially Matteo, enough.
Nice clean rooms & very good breakfast
The hotel is in an area which is being gentrified so the outlook from the rear balcony wasn't great and there was some building work noise from neighboring properties but as we were out exploring this fantastic city it had no effect on our stay
Matteo gave us a discount card for local bars which was well used

Dear Customer,

Thanks for your great review of our hotel on TripAdvisor! We are very happy that you enjoyed your stay with us so much!

As you already mentioned, Hotel Curious provides all its guests with the Curious Card, a card with lots of discounts in some selected restaurants and bas nearby which are brilliant. We chose them carefully only for our guests.

It is true that Hotel Curious breakfast is very complete: different kind of breads, chocolates, pastries, jams, juices, milks and coffee, fresh fruit, eggs, cured ham, cheese...

Once again, thank you very much and we really hope to see you soon again in Barcelona!
