A pleasant hotel on the edge of Segovia, with free parking. We got a taxi to the Alcazar (€6) and walked back through the old town, past the Cathedral and down to the Plaza at the Aqueduct, then got another taxi back up the hill to the hotel (€4). In the evening we went back down for dinner, again by taxi, so the free parking money was spent on taxis, but we were spared the stress of trying to find a parking space in the old town. You could walk if the weather allows and your wife is wearing appropriate footwear, neither of which applied in our case.
The hotel provided a good buffet breakfast of fruit juices, pastries, fruit, ham, cheese and had a good coffee machine (expresso or cafe con leche). Plenty of choice and of good quality.
The cloistered courtyard looked a great place to enjoy a coffee or simply relax once the warmer weather arrives. The bar was comfortable and had a good atmosphere and the restaurant was well furnished and appealing.
The bedrooms were comfortable, if on the small side, and had a decent bathroom with a powerful, hot shower. My only complaint was that you had to pay an extra €8 to use the safe.
Overall a good choice if you are driving and don't mind a walk or taxi ride to get to the centre.More
