It is indeed the most beautiful one I have been to. My family and I arrived the in the end of the afternoon, on a summer day. We took pictures there and had a hard time to avoid the crowd appearing in them. Never mind, summer in Spain! People gathering in squares, sitting down on the floor, chatting, having a drink and even a Mc Donald's meal. We sat at Don Mauro (quite pricy but worth the mean and the atmosphere) and stayed there from 8pm till 11pm. We watched the sunset at 10pm and we were right there when the square was lit. A round of applause from everyone who eyewitnessed that! Minutes of silence for admiration (not enought!). Squares with the same name (Plaza Mayor) can be found in almost every city in Spain. The Madrid one is far uglier and dirtier. I doubt you will find a prettier one than that of Salamanca.
