Great location, but the hotel is in need of updating. Paint was peeling off the walls in the bathroom and the window shades didn't work. Fairly clean and comfortable, but nothing exceptional for the price.

i found this hotel did not have any thing for the children to do. there was no shows for the english people the hotel was full of old spainish people they only had danceing in the aftermoon and eveing for the spainish. we found the food be be poor with not much choice we had to eat out alot with the children as there was things like snails and pig trotters for dinner. i would not go back to this hotel in the winter months.

The Hotel Don Juan is a very small hotel without the big-hotel amenities but very comfortable and clean. The staff is very friendly. Location is great -- only a block away from the Plaza Mayor and a short walk down a pedestrian-only street to the cathedrals and the university. Only annoyance was that you had to leave the key at the front desk when you went out. I would definitely stay here again.

We stayed at the Don Juan in February 05. I would recommend it. At the time of our visit they were busy pedestrianising the street in front of the hotel, so we were moved (at our request) to a back room. The receptionist bounded up the stairs and checked we had a little view across to the cathedrals from our 3rd floor room, which was most considerate. There was also a lift.

The room was a standard hotel fare, nothing special. It was fairly spacious and clean, although seemed a bit worn. We asked for a non-smoking room but I could smell smoke creeping up the stairwell during the night.

Its major points of recommendation are its location and the staff. The Don Juan is a one minute walk from Plaza Mayor, but it's not actually on the square. The newly pedestrian street will also be a plus. Salamanca is not that big, and we were only five or ten minutes by foot from all the main sites. The staff were VERY friendly and obliging. We enjoyed talking to them. At the associated cafe/bar at ground level you can get a coffee or drink before/after a hard day sightseeing. -----------------------

We stayed here twice in 2001. Very nice people, accomodating. Super convenient location. Would stay again. Choose a room at the front, high up for a great view, esp. at night!!!

The room's rug was stained and probably added to a pervasive smell of cigarettes and previous inhabitants. The room, which faced the street, was very noisy:this after we asked in our reservation request for a quiet room. The beds had seen better days.In fact one had broken springs along an edge. We were dissapointed in the accomodation especially at 77 euros a night.
