“Quality restaurant with a welcoming attitude”
Reviewed January 26, 2013

Friend who is long time Salamanca resident took me here for almuerzo & I am so glad she shared this find! Great staff, creative menu using top notch ingredients and intimate setting made it a change from the usual offerings in the city center. We were the only tourists in the place and do speak Spanish but those less confident in their language skills won't have a problem. Buen Provecho!

“Excelent”
Reviewed January 4, 2013

Wandering around the old town of Salamanca I came across this excellent French restaurant in the Liberty Square. The atmosphere is nice and calm, food is very good (their tarte tatin is gorgeous) and the prices more than affordable. The owner is French, he's very attentive to costumers. Plus, the German waiter is very handsome :-)

“In a sea of fast food joints”
Reviewed November 21, 2012

The old town of Salamanca is really something but the modern city which surrounds it is absolutely dreadful.

You would think that such a gorgeous old town would be full of inviting restaurants but we have wandered around for hours in the past. An endless number of grotty fast food dives.

Finally, we went into Zazu purely because it said bistro on the door. The measure of our desperation is that we even walked up the stairs to take a look (something we never normally do)

And up the stairs was a nice restaurant where we had a very good meal.

We will be back at the end of next week

“An old house renovated with a style!”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

It is an old house renovated, which made it to have its own style. The service is not bad if we consider that it was done by a foreign student who speaks Spanish , but the food was good, when we objected that our arugula salad should not have meat they changed it for us (I hope so! ).

“Relaxed atmosphere and service, great food”
Reviewed August 22, 2012

We were looking for a place - a bit different than pinxos - after 2 weeks in Spain. Food in this place is really tasty, but the big difference compared with other places is the service and atmosphere. All is relaxed, not as touristic as quite some other places in Salamance. You are given all the time you want or need for your meal in a calm environment. Duck and entrcote a recommended.

The place is a bit more expensive than your regular tapas bar, but you'll find it a welcome change of service, good food and tranquility as well.
