“Excellent Overnight Stay”
Reviewed August 20, 2012

Travelling across Spain by car we made a stop overnight at this beautiful boutique hotel.
The experience was extremely enjoyable with 5 stars quality ideally located to tour the centre of this amazing historical city. The service was excellent and dispensed by extremely courteous staff. I give Don Gregorio 10 out of 10!

Great hotel - very luxurious boutique style hotel in centre of Salamanca - Complimentary minibar, chocs on pillows, fluffy white dressing gowns, very comfortable beds, lovely shower and overall a great 5* experience. The restaurant is in the basement and had a good breakfast buffet. We did not eat in the hotel in the evening (not sure if the restaurant is open) but there are so many places to eat in the main town square (only 10 mins walk away) that we were spoilt for choice.
As salamanca is an old town, getting to the hotel was a bit tortuous (one way system in operation) - there is a parking bay outside the hotel to offload luggage and then there is valet parking (€15 a night). Would thoroughly recommend this hotel.

This was absolutely one of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed in! The decorating, ambiance, and size of the room all contributed to the comfort of our stay. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. It is located near many of the sites as well as the University of Salamanca. This makes it very convenient if you are visiting a student as we were. The included breakfast was very good and the small touches they offered such as the welcome fruit tray added to the overall experience of our stay. Perfect!!

Wow Wow Wow......... From arrival at this stunning hotel to departure it was 5* service throughout our three day stay.

We chose this hotel as it was my birthday and it was definitley the right choice for a special treat.
Upon check in by Carlos (who I must say made us feel so welcome and was a pleasure to be checked in by someone so friendly and helpful) we were served a glass of champagne while the porter took our luggage to our room .

When we walked into our room it was beautiful and the porter had put our sun hats on our beds which I thought was a nice touch , he had also put our cool bag in the fridge (we had driven from Madrid that day , so had packed cold drinks for the journey) again its these little gestures/ thoughtfulness that makes this hotel stand out !
The minibar in the room is complimentary and is filled with juices, cola, tonic and beer as well as chocolate and peanuts , again another nice little touch .

The bed... Oh the bed....... was one of those beds you really never want to get out of....... Huge pillows and the most exclusive monogrammed egyptian cotton high thread count linen , it enveloped your skin making you feel like you were wrapped in silk ..... Oh so nice .......

After along day we ordered a bottle of Verve Cliqout which I couldn't believe was only £46 and settled in to watch the Olympics opening ceremony .
We hit the town at about 2am and it was very quiet which to be honest is to be expected but then we turned a corner off the Playa Mayor and hit the nightlife quarter, great bars/clubs and lots going on . Another surprise was drinks are only €5 for a double brandy , finally got back to the hotel at 6am after a great evening which of course meant one thing , we missed breakfast which was included in the room rate.

Not a problem for Don Gregorio a quick call to reception and within minutes a banquet was delivered to the room consisting of fresh juices, tea, pastries , toast and full English breakfast , only problem was my friend is Muslim and doesn't eat pork , so we rang to ask if they could make an omelette for her , within minutes another tray was delivered with not one but two replacement breakfasts ...... Service was exceptional and nothing was too much trouble.

After a day of sightseeing and people watching we headed back to the hotel to use the spa which was AMAZING , it's an absolute must when staying at Don Gregorio , we had the sole use of the spa and they even served us a glass of champagne too.

After another night on the town we headed back to our hotel and asked the night manager if we could have a drink from the bar , he obliged and we asked for two brandies , however he couldn't find any , he didnt speak English and we didnt speak spanish but that didn't deter him , he went off downstairs to see what he could find but too no avail , he then went off again this time returning with a step ladder and proceeded to scour the top shelf where he found a bottle of brandy with two very large shots left in it , we took these to the garden terrace and devoured them before drifting away in the luxurious bedding .

Following morning we made it for breakfast .......Wow what selection , everything you could possibly imagine , every kind of fruit from strawberries to cherries to peaches , pineapple the list goes on ....
All kinds of chorizo , jamon, cheese, breads, pastries, cereals, gateaux and a choice of hot menu including smoked salmon , bacons eggs cooked all ways and the service in the breakfast room was amazing , so attentive and quick .

It was difficult to say goodbye to Don Gregorio and it's amazing team of staff who run this hotel so proficiently and professionally , it truly was a 5* star experience from beginning to end .
As we were checking out Sandra (who incidentally is Salma Hayek's double ) served me a very large double whiskey with a divine chocolate truffle .

A big thank you to Carlos , Sandra and the night manager all of whom surpassed our expectations during our stay , but to them this is business as usual and this is the norm for all that work at he fabulous Don Gregorio .

I look forward to returning sometime in the future to catch up with the fantastic team who made our stay absolutely perfect .
Thank you (**)

Room Tip: We had a room that looked out onto the private garden which was beautiful , but I believe some rooms...

It doesn’t get any better than this for warm, friendly, small boutique hotels. In a lovely old building, the hotel has been beautifully redecorated with every comfort in mind. The service was warm, gracious and helpful. The room and stay had the small touches that made it special – a welcome platter of fresh fruit, a sound system in the room with Bose speakers and several inviting choices of music playlist, a complementary minibar, comfortable beds, valet parking, the best breakfast we had on our trip. The spa and massage were decadent extras. All in all, we loved this hotel and our stay there and would recommend it highly to anyone looking to pamper themselves in a wonderful location in this wonderful city.

A high quality 5* hotel in the heart of Salamanca. It is small, but very convenient for all the sites and service is great. Our room, on the top floor was spacious and quiet - it was in the eves of the roof, so sloping ceiling and no views, but the size, bathroom and facilities were superb. Breakfast was great and they have valet parking - needed in Salamanca

Room Tip: If you want quiet, ask for the top floor room - number 31, but you won't have a view of the town
