“If the pilgrims can find it so can we!”
Reviewed September 23, 2013

Lovely place, once found - look out for the road next to Burger King! Thought it was great, well located, fantastic view of the most beautiful square, like something out of a Spaghetti western, felt like donning a poncho. Really spacious, well appointed rooms - only single beds of course! Great to have the parking. Good fittings, comfortable - the only thing is that the walls are paper thin. Now it's a place of pilgramage so there's no Benidorm style marauding, just this bloke next to us - SNORING like crazy. The ladies on reception are lovely, so sweet, they must be nuns they're sooo nice. Only one thing, we didn't think the breakfast was worth the money at all. In Spain the hotels now seem to be serving horrible percolated coffee and if you want to make sure there's anything left, get there very early.

Room Tip: Higher up the better, away from the road outside.

The hotel is a converted monastery and the modern, large, well-furnished rooms came as a pleasant surprise. A reasonable buffet breakfast is taken in a large dining area. Parking is free and available within the hotel courtyard - avoid pellegrinos who congregate there! Located on a scenic, cobbled Plaza in the old town, with a couple of decent bar / restaurants it represents excellent value. The issue is trying to locate it with a car, being within a controlled area that necessitates contacting the reception to gain access. The city has many one way streets and the hotel is not signed! I'd suggest park near the old walls and, if there's more than one person, find it on foot and the friendly, relaxed receptionist will come out to help gain entry. I suspect that this is a regular occurrence! Just try not to forget where the car is parked and for those inside to be patient!
Leon is certainly worth the effort to visit and the cathedral is impressive both in the light and dark.

Very good aspects: the room was big, well renovated, good shower, our beds very comfortable, the location was centered: 10 min away from Cathedral, walking distance to all main attractions. Situated ina an old square where there are a couple ofncafes-tapas bar where we could have something quick to eat and fantastic choices of drinks, personnel was very kind and helpful. Parking is free. Price - we paid 80€ in peak season - all included

Poor aspecst: finding the way to enter is very complicated. We spend almost 1 hour since we entered Leon until we were able to park. WIFI did not reach the rooms, just the lobby.

Breakfast was average.

I would return because overall value is excellent, and now I kniw how to go and what to expect.

This was awfully difficult to find but worth it! We eventually found the little street leading to the entrance, but it was not easy. The hostel was wonderful - in the beautiful old part of Leon, 10 minutes walk from the Cathedral. It is situated in a typical Spanish square. The hostel is part of a working nunnery and you will see nuns and pilgrims on the trail milling around. Our room was modern, and absolutely beautiful, clean and well designed. Highly recommend - but make sure you get good directions!

Easy to reach via GPS by entering the street address, hotel also provides good e-mail instructions on final approaches if you ask, apparently at the electronic gate a few 100 m before the hotel, you need to phone for access, but for us it opened automatically. The rooms are very modern, large and very clean with tiled floors throughout, a beautifully equipped well lit bathroom with white granite and tub/shower, curiously no hair dryer but it can be requested from the reception. The room has a very long shelf/desk space good for working. Parking and wifi were free, but wifi apparently does not work in all apartments, it did work in #104. Short and easy walk to the plaza mayor and the cathedral, which is an absolute must to visit. Overall an almost perfect place, but they should consider stocking maps of the city themselves instead of sending guests to the hostel also in the same compound.
