“a good meal in atmospheric surroundings”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 8, 2013

This is a very conveniently-located restaurant in the centre of Burgos, very near the square with teh El Cid equestrian monument. It has an 'old-Spanish' feel to it with leather chairs and dark wood colours. We had the 'perdrix salad', which was very good and then the oven-cooked lamb as well as the 'chuletittas', lamb chops: both very tasty. The lemon-pie desert was also very good. Everything was well-presented and the staff were very competent, if a bit impersonal.

“Wonderful place, a real find”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 30, 2013

We stumbled on this - its not very obvious from the outside - but discovered it was one of the best rated restaurants in Burgos. Rightly so. Excellent service, a great range of dishes from snacks to mega-meals, and a wonderful atmosphere. Option of restaurant or cafeteria - we took the latter which was , er, like a restaurant. Buzzing but not crowded. No hesitation in returning or recommending.

“Old Europe?”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 21, 2013

It would be hard to describe this restaurant without thinking of Europe twenty five years ago.
Possibly it was an off night but the sullen staff overrode any quality in the food. You could find a better restaurant.

“Wonderful old world restaurant, with great food, friendly and attentive service, and wonderul ambience.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 3, 2012

There can be no better restaurant in Burgos! The old world charm of the wood and white tablecloths in the restaurant, with the huge glasses and large white napkins welcome one to a serious and wonderful eating experience. Nothing in the food changes this - the asparagus and partridge starters were excellent, and the roast lamb and hake main courses were divine, as was the shared lemon dessert. The wines list is very extensive, ranging from the very reasonable to the unbelievably expensive. We opted for glasses of the really good house white and a half bottle of an outstanding red Ribeira at 16 euros, all of which were outstanding. The restaurant isn't cheap, but a total bill of around 11o euros for two represented very good value for the quality of the food and wine that we had enjoyed. The waiting staff throughout were friendly and very tolerant of our abysmal attempts at Spanish, helping with their much better English!

“Quite simply the best lamb in Spain”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 26, 2012

I came on the back of a clipping from a lonely planet guide from 2002 raving about the quality of the oven cooked lamb, and I was not at all disappointed. Quite simply, if you're in Burgos this is the place to come.

The restaurant is admittedly at the more pricey end of the market, but in this case you definately get what you pay for. The decor is absolutely splendid inside, and the restaurant also has a lovely outdoor terrace situation in what appeared to be one of the most scenic well-chiseled plazas buried away from the busier highstreets.

We had the morcilla to start, which was excellent, and a leg of lamb for two with a side-dish of salad. The portions are enough to satisfy the largest of apetites. Service was polite and timely, which is even to be expected in Spain when the pricetag is this high.
