Family run, very friendly and accommodating, will not try to rip you off, generous with portions and wine. Great paella, and great tapas for the price

We went here twice during our stay in Burgos. Once for the lunch "menu del dia" and once for Pintxos in the evening.

The staff is very friendly in general. At the lunch menu del dia we found thema bit pushy with the order, even though we were the first guests in. The menu del dia was ok, but nothing especially great. The price for the quality of the food was ok, i have seen better in other areas of northern spain. Nevertheless, the view of the pintxos on the bar downstairs had us interested to return for the evening.

The pintxos in the evening were really great. Some creations that I found more inventive than what I would have expected from a small palce like this. While I normally am not a fan of black pudding, they had some combinations of pintxos with it that I found very tasty, well actually great. Price was fine for what was provided, more local people than tourists in the pintxos bar.

So bottom line: pintxos experience 5, menu del dia 3, gives a rating of 4.

We happened to enter this restaurant among a plethora of other offerings, as both the menu posted outside (12 euro including a bottle of wine for 2) and the crowds inside attracted us. Downstairs is the typical drinks and tapas space, with loads of people enjoying themselves - what surprised us was that we got the last table at the upstairs restaurant - at 9:00 pm, when the locals just sort of start to eat - but we guess a large part of the clientele consisted of visitors, with earlier eating habits. For appetizers, the cecina de leon with cooked/grilled leek and particularly the artichockes with fried prosciutto were good. For mains, the dorada/seabass was excellent, but the escalopinas de ternera/beef cutlets were good but came with a too creamy and not enouth pungent roquefort topping. Good creme caramel and ok chocolat layer cake for deserts. The entire bill including coffee, tea and 2 shots of torres brandy came to 36 euro. Recommended.

We went down this street looking for another highly reviewed restaurant, but ended up here after looking at both of the menus. It was a great decision. There is a bar downstairs and a dining room upstairs. We had a variety of foods-asparagus, seafood croquetas, sopa castellano, and veal with mushrooms. Desserts were a tiramisu tart and natillas (custard). The server was friendly and the food came out very quickly. With a bottle of house wine, you can't beat the price! (12 Euros per person). A great lunch.

This bar is always packed with local customers. It offers tapas and racion(a la carte) according to your choice & budget. Try "Gambas a la plancha"(panfried fresh prawns).
