Hotel Norte y Londres

Right on a corner in the bucolic little town of Burgos stands the hotel Norte y Londres. Very clean, nice sized rooms and a very attentive and personable front desk. It actually sits on a small plaza. The plaza is NOT noisey except when students are having a graduation party. The lobby is very large and well appointed with sitting areas and a TV. There was no computer for guests' use. The hotel has a restaurant connected to it but while we were there we never saw a soul in it.
The statues in around the town are great and the Cathedral is amazing. Bring good walking shoes and plan to tred on mostly cobbled sidewalks. This town closes up much earlier than Madrid or Barcelona so plan accordingly.

Located in the medieval part of Burgos on a lovely plaza with contemporary bronze sculptures depicting medieval and modern-day townfolk, this small hotel is great value for the budget-conscious traveler.

A cozy lobby welcomes visitors, and the friendly desk clerks are very helpful. They only speak Spanish, and many guests appear to be from Spain.

My room on the 3rd floor was very clean and comfortable, as were the twin beds. The bathroom had a bathtub/shower with a very good shower head. There were both a toilet and a bidet, as well as a hair dryer. Towels were clean and thick, and soap and shampoo were provided.

One problem I found with the room was the creaking of the wood floors. I soon learned to avoid the planks that creaked.

There was also a problem with street noise. The hotel is located between two heavily traveled narrow streets, and the sounds of people walking by at all times of the day and of revelers on their way home at 2 in the morning did not make for a restful sleep. The trash trucks and the street sweepers at 4 in the morning are also quite noisy. If you stay in this hotel, bring your highest quality earplugs!

Although all rooms were non-smoking rooms, there was a distinct cigarette smoke smell in the hallways, and later in my stay I discovered that the cleaning woman smoked in a small closet in the hallway.

The hotel is located in an area with many small cafes/bars/cafeterias, and most of them cater to tourists and have the Menu del Dia. Most do not open until around 10 am, but do close late (2 am). They also shutter down for siesta. There is a locuterio located about a block from the hotel where you can use the telephones and internet. They also open at 10 am.

The famous Burgos cathedral is a 5 minute walk from the hotel.
The bus station is on the other side of the river and is an easy 10-15 minute walk over medieval cobblestones. If you are hauling your suitcase on wheels, make sure you have good quality wheels as they will take quite a beating.

There is a breakfast room in the hotel, although I did not use it and can't vouch for the food.

This is a wonderful little hotel, and I would definitely recommend this to my budget-conscious friends.

Although it looks fairly ordinary from the outside, the inside of the hotel is spacious with plenty of character. Something you rarely get in modern, purpose built hotels. The reception staff were also friendly and helpful.

We had not booked anywhere for our stay in Burgos and were feeling quite frustrated when we stumbled on this gem of a hotel. The rooms face a busy square (don´t they all in Spain) and are very basic but they are extremely comfortable. Our bathroom was massive and our bedroom was very well sized as well. Internet is not available in the rooms but is free in the reception area. This property is very close to restaurants and the street atmosphere in Burgos is to be experienced. A great stay

I spent one night in this hotel at the end of a 5 day walk on the Camino de Santiago. Weary and footsore, this hotel was an oasis of calm and tranquility. I stayed in room 307 which had 3 balconies - including one in the bathroom! 100 years old and elegant, it is located on a lovely square, with a great little bar across the street. Staff recommended a place to eat that night a couple of minutes walk away, on another square full of spanish families dressed up for the evening. At 57 euro for a double room it was fantastic. A lovely night porter let me check in online from his office ( theres no computer access in the lobby). 10 out of 10
