My wife and I stopped here after we landed in Madrid, rented a car, and headed to San Sebastian. We did not want to travel the 5 hours all at once, so we decided on the Landa Hotel in Burgos.

We visited the town of Burgos the following morning and I am always torn between staying in the city center or just outside. Since we were driving we chose to stay outside the city center. Also, the Landa Hotel offered a nice pool and a restaurant. Sometimes we regret staying outside of the city center, but in this case it was a great decision.

Upon arrival we were greeted by the bellman who was extremely eager to help us. He refused our help and grabbed all of our bags and then parked our car. We were disappointed that the pool was closed for the day due to a wedding.

After exploring our room we headed down to the bar/cafe and had a great lunch of Gazpacho, Iberico Ham and Bread with Tomato. Later in the day we enjoyed Tapas and finally dinner around 9 - the earliest they opened. Dinner was excellent and we enjoyed Monk Fish as the main course.

Overall, the hotel is really a great option. The beds and pillows were "European Firm" but the rooms and bathroom were better than expected. I would not rate this hotel as luxury by no means, but it serves a great purpose and I was pleasantly surprised by the whole experience.

I found the hotel to be quiet and pleasant. You can spend countless hours sitting on the cafe patio enjoying the sun and the nice breeze. A nice oasis.

We stayed here "en route" to Quinta Das Lagrimas in Coimbra, Portugal and were surprised by the quality and style. Great concierge service on par with top hotels in major capitals, fabulous decorum, fabulous suite, tremendously stylish facilities.
Restaurant good, but slightly underwhelming compared to the rest.
Overall: To be recommended!

Room Tip: Go for a suite they are imho excellent value for money....

The Landa is a fun and fabulous way to get the experience of castle living in a modern age. Rooms are well appointed however the beds are hard and you can feel the springs. The pool is fabulous and the grounds quiet when away from the main road. Easy to get to as it is right (200m) away from the main road. Restaurant is great and building full of charm. Don't miss Burgos only 5 mins drive away, picturesque town with fantastic food.

We stayed one night and were quite amazed by this beautiful setting right by the highway. If I were local I would hold my wedding party here. Do not miss the swimming pool, the most beautiful I have ever seen. Dinner in the "comedor" was a bit overpriced. All in all a quite original setting, if you like being taken by surprise this is the place..

Finding the entrance a challenge as the hotel is right on the carriageway.

Stunning interior with helpful efficient staff, rooms beautiful and everything was excellent quality - right down to the fittings in the bathroom.

Bed so comfortable and lots of quiet seating places scattered around the hotel it was very easy to find some peace and relaxtion.

Service in the bar area great with complimentry nibbles with your drinks. Food served in the bar although never ate there as we tried the lamb in the restaurant and were hooked. Excellent wine choice assisted by a very efficient waiter too.

Truly cant fault the place even if its magical splendour is somewhat confused by its location, you have to stay there to appreciate the comments.

Didnt try breakfast as we were on business and had to leave before breakfast was served.

We clearly got a great room rate when we stayed in Feb as we hoped to stay again when back there in April but the rate had more than doubled. Im not surpised it really is that good.

We stayed there in 2010 july only for a night. The room was one of the most complete and luxurious I´ve ever seen. Many amenities in bedroom and bathroom. I had dinner there too and I was also great. Pool is gorgeous. We stayed at room 301 and 302 but we had opportuniy to see many other rooms and I think every room is a good choice in this hotel.

The room was lovely and the staff were very nice. But we only found two of the staff that spoke English. My spanish is not the greatest so we had a lot of difficulty. I really would not stay again because of the language barrier. Also you have to make a reservation for your car.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The beginning of the Landa dates back to 1959. A little restaurant was opened 2 km outside Burgos where travellers used to refresh themselves on their journey along the road which, despite its faults, was then the main route linking the capital with the north of Spain. The commitment of the Landa family to the hotel business dates back to the beginning of the 20th century with the "Real Club de Puerta de Hierro" in Madrid and "La Perla" in San Sebastian, and later with "La Gran Taberna", also in Madrid. The Landa started out during hard times for the Spanish hotel business in non urban areas; the hotel, its various extensions, the tower, the pool, the square... Were incorporated later on, little by little. ... more   less
