“Very nice hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 6, 2014

Was very surprised by the location! Right next to the cathedral - fantastic setting and location.
We stayed for one night in a twin room which was comfortable.
The hotel is near to everything and burgos is fantastic! Loved it!
The breakfast and evening meal were expensive so we ate in Burgos and found some great restaurants. My only negative was the shower as it was fixed to the wall and the jet of water went everywhere.... Apart from that great hotel and well worth a visit.

Room Tip: All seemed ok ask for a view of the cathedral as these seemed to be nicer rooms.

It was our second trip to Burgos and our first to this hotel, we had seen it on our first trip and liked the position. Our room overlooked the cathedral in the older building, the view was lovely both day and night and we could watch the comings and goings in the square. I would say the room was 'quaint', the beds a little old and the bathroom in need of a revamp but it was clean and did its job. Staff were very helpful and the secure garage so close by was a big plus. The breakfast was good and plentiful and the room overlooked the cathedral square giving the experience a lovely ambience. Everything is in walking distance and we had a reasonably priced meal in a cafe in the square nearby.

Room Tip: Definately request a room with a Cathedral view.

Our room was on the 5th floor with a view of red-tiled roof-tops and the huge Gothic cathedral next door. Comfortable room, very Spanish decor and furnishings. The whole hotel
takes up three buildings, the one we stayed in has the Reception in it, and is full of interesting artefacts, pictures and antique furniture. Breakfast was the usual continental fare, with friendly service and freshly-made coffee. The parking was in an underground garage across the street, very handy in the centre of a historic and mainly pedestrianised old town.

Housed in a beautiful old building (not sure if it is historical house), the Meson del Cid was truly beyond my expectation (of a three star hotel). Antique furnished room and lobby provide an atmosphere of the past century. About my room, your single beds both with large windows right in front enable my friend and I to see the main square and the famous Burgos Cathedral while sitting on the beds.

Only problem was with the electricity - the room blacked out while when switched on the hair-dryer!!!

Room Tip: ask for a room facing the main square and the cathedral!!!

Undoubtedly the best hotel location in Burgos, Spain. Nearly every room faces the cathedral and the main square. Nicely appointed room with modern facilities, but quaint, quality furnishings. Staff speaks English and is very helpful. This is a small place, so advance reservations are a must.
I do not recommend eating here as there are dozens of great little cafes nearby with cheap, local prices. The hotel is in the old part of the city with lots of tourists, but just across the river is the modern town. Burgos is small. Take a cab into the town from the train station-- about $11 Euros-- and then do everything on foot. Easily walkable. Great place to spend a day.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the square. Old town area shuts down at night so there is no outside noise.

The hotel was a bit awkward to find. We moved from the room we were given as it had a small window set very high up and felt claustrophobic. Second room was okay. It overlooked the Cathedral. It was a quiet time of year (November) so not much choice of restaurants. We dined at the Hotel Restaurant which was a little staid!! Food okay. Probably wouldn't opt for this hotel a second time even though the view overlooking the Cathedral is great.

Room Tip: Overlooking the small square and Cathedral

If you get a double room overlooking the Cathedral square, you have a superb view of the cathedral itself in all the changing lights of the day and evening. The hotel is in a beautiful old building, clean, friendly, straightforward, nothing over-elaborate or pretentious within sight, and we spent a very good couple of nights in a comfortable, light, attractive room on one of the upper floors. We had a marvellous and ever changing view of all the lively comings and goings in the square. Good prices, no overcharging, a helpful staff and a substantial breakfast.

Room Tip: Make sure you overlook the square.
