We were recommended to go to a restaurant by our Hotel (AC) by the steps of the cathedral - I think they may have been referring to El Cid next door but we weren't taken with the prices and opted for Meson La Cueva instead.
As with most spanish restaurants, don't bother trying before 10pm, really not much goes on! The place has two floors for eating - the day we were there the upstairs was booked out for a function so we were downstairs.
The food was quite simple but delicious - Please do ask for the house red wine, which for us (pretty experienced wine drinkers) - was the best house red we've ever had - and the corrajillo (pronounced carraheos) was absolute bliss
