Great friendly service in a lovely old building with Roman (?) Ruins in the basement. Stellar location across from cathedral. Only issue was shower was too small, and we are normal weight and only slightly above average height. I would gladly stay again.

The service was perfect, the location just in front of the cathedral excellent. The rooms are very small, but well kept. I have nothing wrong to say about this place except that the rooms were slightly too small and the price slightly too high. Otherwise, recommended.

Staying at the Hostal Casa de Cisneros makes you feel special. From the giddiness you feel when you finally wind your way up to the hotel and joyfully discover how close it is to the Cathedral, to the clean rooms filled with both character of a bygone world and complimentary modern conveniences (air conditioning and free WiFi), this tourist hotel makes you feel special.

George, the proprietor, invites you into the hotel with the same care one invites a guest into his home. When he invites you to tour the excavation site below the hotel and offers you a glass of Toledo wine and slices of ham and cheese, the struggles of the day melt away and you feel like you are having a lovely conversation with a group of friends. It was a joy to wave "see you later" in the morning and return here each evening.

The bathrooms are small, and the showers more so, but the mattresses are in good, firm, clean condition, and the floors, walls, windows and curtains sparkling clean. After a good night's sleep, breakfast pleased the senses with excellent quality fruits, pastries, hams, and cheeses, and fresh coffee and juices.

I will make a beeline to stay here the next time I visit Toledo.

This charming hotel is in a great location and offers its own unique history. The owner gave a wonderful tour of his underground excavation of ancient Toledo. It's close to a couple of late night eateries, which is important if you stay in Toledo because most of the town closes up when the tourists leave on the late trains.

Located in what was once the house of the Cardinals of Toledo this great little hotel offers everything that we could have wished for in a long weekend trip to Toledo. Excellently located in the heart of the old city and within a 5 minute walk to the shopping centre. The rooms are clean and well appointed and the hotel itself is full of quirky little items and unexpected objects. The owner of the hotel (and the staff) could not have been more helpful and pleasant and nothing was too much trouble for them. If you decide to stay at this location make sure that you take up the owners offer of showing you around the underground excavations below the hotel that have now been converted into a restaurant that specializes in local food.
The price of the stay at the hotel includes breakfast that is served in a small dining room which is open from 8:30 until 10:30 and although reasonably small easily seats all of the hotel guests comfortably. For a long weekend away or a short break in Toledo I can really recommend this hotel as a place to stay. My wife and I will be returning to Toledo and we will make sure that this hotel is where we will stay!

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the front of the hotel as it is a great place to watch the world pass by!

Located in a house several centuries old, this hotel is full of character in a perfect location. Clean, quaint and friendly rooms open onto a central atrium. Unfortunately (small quibble) the atrium has been covered by plexiglass, turning the whole thing into a greenhouse instead of the cool space it was designed to be. But don't be deterred, the place was perfectly comfortable and bright. The ancient house is across the street from the Cathedral, and by "the street" they mean one of those little medieval alleys -- the Cathedral was about ten feet outside one of our two second-storey balcony-windows. Our room (the "Cisneros" room) boasted beamed ceilings and window-boxes of blooming flowers. The bathroom was tiny but serviceable. Jorge, our host, was a lovely man who was infectiously proud of his establishment. He revelled in showing off the excavations done in the basement, revealing Roman, Visigothic, Moorish and Medieval elements. He seems especially happy to explain the difficulties he had to overcome, imposed by the EU bureaucrats, which almost prevented the hotel from opening (and still keep him from enlarging the bathrooms). The basement is now the hotel restaurant, and looked good, but alas was not open when we were there. Skip the adjoining hotel gift shop, though; it's exactly like the hundreds of others in the town center, selling the same schlock. Altogether, for a reasonably priced and fun (and a little funky) place to stay, this is a great choice.

Room Tip: Try the "Cisneros" room. It's on the top, outside corner, with two balconies, so ther...

The energetic and professional owner is proud of his listed heritage "hostal", knowledgable about the 1,700 year history of its site, and passionate about providing excellent service. Everything is small, but the result is clean, nicely furnished accommodation, pretty beamed rooms, albeit with tiny but efficient bathrooms, fast wifi, and a fascinating dining room in the excavation of Roman period remains!! It's fun to be immersed in the atmosphere of old Toledo, just across from the Cathedral, and close to other historically interesting sights and shops. Food in the "Roman" restaurant was reasonably priced and wholesome, and the wine list was fine! .... One warning!! It's very easy to lose your sense of direction in the maze of narrow streets, so a good map, or even better, google maps, is a must!! ....
