Owner description: One of the most imposing cathedrals in Spain, and a superb example of Gothic architecture.

Amazing. No need to purchase tix in advance, the lines were not long at 4 in afternoon. Very large, beautiful place. When arriving in Toledo, take the public escalator.

It's a bit dim inside, but the architecture is amazing with especially the simply amazing ambulatory and massive sculpture behind the main altar. Some of the most important works of El Greco are also displayed in the chapels. Don't see without a guide or audioguide.
Avoid the gift shop outside, roam the streets for souveniers instead.

One of the biggest cathedrals I have ever been. Many different environments, each one very delicately and thoroughly decorated. They have this little but precious treaure collection, sort of a museum, where you can see religious objects such as crosses, crowns, ostensories, made from gold, ivory, and even red coral. Moving... Do not miss the Sala Capitular (Chapterhouse) and its mudejar ceiling; the altarpiece, one of the most beautiful in Spain, with scenes of Jesus and also El Transparente; the Choir room with carvings of the old testament and the Granada fall (last muslim city to surrender to Catholicism); the El Greco painintg in Sacristia (The Disrobing of Christ)... wow, so much to see! Take you time and a guide to carefully spot these treasures!

Having seen the vast Burgos Cathedral a couple of days before this cathedral had less to offer in our opinion. It had a couple of interesting aspects which caught our eye but overall a little disappionting.

If you have travelled around Spain, then this cathedral will feel like more of the same. If not, it is an amazing monument to religious influence in the region. It is quite large in comparison to Cathedrals in other bigger cities in Spain - considering Toledo is so much smaller in population.
