“Sat Nav Sally got us there”
Reviewed March 4, 2013

Enough has been said about the beautiful city of Toledo, but the experience of finding Hotel Santa Isabel was priceless. We followed our Sat Nav and really felt Sat Nav Sally had lost it. The streets got narrower and narrower, we wound the wing mirrors in and the locals smiled at us. But at last we were at the hotel, we signed in and then fully expected to be directed back down the hill to park. But, oh joy, there was an under hotel car park. The situation was perfect for exploring and the view from the roof, expecially at sunset was stunning. Nice room, attentive staff, good breakfast. Job done.

The location of this hotel is good. Well located for sightseeing and dinner. The room was large and clean. The staff was helpful. We parked our car in their private garage, under the hotel. Unfortunately, the room had no safe. Breakfast was served rather than buffet.

Lodging full of character in an antique building with easy access to cathedral and old Jewish quarter. Room small, but clean. Inexpensive continental breakfast available that included a nice helping of fruit.

Helpful front-desk man came to my rescue when I couldn’t park the large car we had rented an hour before with its unfamiliar gear-shift pattern in the tiny space in the nearby plaza and parked it for me.

This hotel has a lot of features that to enjoy - its location in the old city, the comfortable rooms, wifi access, but the best feature by far is the rooftop terrace. The views of the city and the cathedral are fantastic! The location is great - you wind your way through the narrow streets to get here. The room was comfortable and more spacious than many in Europe. We arrived early, about noon, but the staff allowed us to check in to our room since it was ready. They also held our luggage for us on check-out day until we were ready to depart.

If you are coming from the train station, catch a taxi to the hotel. It would be a bit of a walk from where the bus can drop you (the busses don't go down the small streets in the old part of town) and the taxi ride through these narrow streets is a fun experience. Some posters have mentioned the noise. We didn't find it to be overly noisy and if you need absolute quiet I would not recommend staying in the older part of Toledo due to the old buildings and narrow streets that help noise carry a bit further.

If I were to return to Toledo, I would stay in Hotel Santa Isabel again.

Room Tip: Some rooms overlook the cathedral but others overlook the tiny narrow streets that characterize Tole...

Comfortable accommodation in nice location of old city of Toledo, with stunning rooftop view. But that's where it ends! When booking in gentleman at reception informed us where our rooms were and that was it! No info on where and when breakfast would be the next morning, no info on any refreshment/bar facilities as we had just arrived and when we left the hotel an hour later to walk around the old city, no info on whereabouts or even offering a map of the old city, as it is very easy to get lost. In the room, under the glass of the dressing table with the television partly obscuring it, was the extremely limited breakfast menu. We opted for breakfast in town the next morning!

We loved everything about this hotel. The hotel is very well located. It is very close to most everything we wanted to see in old Toledo. Check in was a breeze. The room was very clean, comfortable, and the view from our room was incredible. In the evening, we shared a bottle of wine on the roof top and enjoyed the night view of Toledo. Then, the next morning we awoke just a bit before dawn so we could watch the sun rise over Toledo from that same roof top. We found breakfast to be quite lovely. All the staff that we encountered were kind and helpful. They even allowed us to stow our luggage and my husbands sword after we checked out so we could enjoy another day in Toledo before our train to Madrid in the evening. This hotel is a good choice!

Room Tip: Stay on the top floor. There are only three rooms on this floor. We stayed in the middle one and it...

Great location. Needs a narrow car to navigate the streets and parking entrance. Leave the car parked and walk everywhere. Breakfast atnhotel is great. Wifi available, great hot water and energy -efficient lights but....zero soundproofing. Footfalls cross into your room as do all noises, voices etc. from adjacent rooms so if you are. Light sleeper either pray the hotel is empty or stay at Eurico down the road for 5 euros more. Tiles and marble on floors are lovely but I needn't beauty sleep guys and both nights were problematic here. Sorry cos otherwise it was a straight 5 across the board

Room Tip: Make sure there are no rOoms above you.
