We spent 3 nights at the hotel enjoying the royal Parador treatment after having been here before 7 years ago during our honeymoon. The rooms are not that special but the hotel's location is! The hotel is situated on a hill top overlooking Toledo and the river Tague with truely spectacular views.

Enjoying a glass of excellent Spanish red wine with some tapas on the terrace of this hotel during sunset is something I can recommend to everyone!

The Parador Toledo is really quite lovely --- much nicer than we had expected, as it is substantially less expensive than the Granada Parador.

Unfortunately for us, we were really looking forward to sitting on our terrace and taking n the truly exquisite views of Toledo. To our dismay, there are no dividers on the terraces so if you have smokers next to you, and smoke bothers you, forget about sitting outside.

We also enjoy leaving our door open at night so we can have fresh air --- same dilemma. Plus, we were lucky enough, or unlucky enough, to be in Toledo for the May 1 festival. It literally went on all night on April 30 and continued all day May 1 and in to May 2 including cannon blasts, ringing bells, VERY loud music and hundreds of people. In addition, the roads were closed which meant some pretty out of the way detours. So, if you like peace and quiet --- avoid this festival as it occurs just below the Parador.

Otherwise I would highly recommend this Parador. It’s an easy 2.5-mile walk to the old town and a mild 2.5-mile walk uphill to return. You can also take a shuttle or drive as there is covered parking in the old area, or take a taxi. The people, especially Esther Lopez, were very kind and helpful (one or two less helpful, but not too bad.) The rooms are large and comfortable (except the pillows which are foam) and the bathroom is quite nice with two sinks and a very nice shower.

Over all, an unexpectedly good Parador.

There's no doubt that the view from the Parador is stunning. As we went there just for the picturesque view of Toledo, we didn't stay in the parador. So we can make no comments on the rooms, however, the gentleman from the lobby we met was very helpful and can speak fluent English. Although we weren't his customers, he helped us to call a taxi without any hesitation after we couldn't find any along the road near the parador in the evening.

The view from our room (#419) has to count as one of the worlds best. But as a Parador, we found it lacking. The service level of the staff was not what you would expect, and there was not a lot of English going around. (We were actually given wrong driving directions to the Madrid airport, that is something they should have down pat?)
The hotel furnishing are worn, this was the first time our room in a Parador was not immaculate and the on sight restaurant just is not good. WIFI lobby only, but PCs for guests use in a conference room. But you walk out onto your balcony and none of that seems to matter. Take a cab down the hill and you are in one of the neatest cities in the world.

This is a lovely, but very expensive, place to stay. The rooms and the hotel are elegant and spacious but it is the view across the ravine to the Wolrd heritage site of Toledo that makes this such a terrific place to stay.
Splash out and enjoy. Oh, and it has got a splendid pool but with not enough sun loungers!

As everyone says the view is what makes this place. Dinner on the terrace as night descended on Toledo was great and the food wasn't bad either. We walked into town in the day which took a leisurely 30 mins and got a taxi back which cost 10 euros. It is a steep hill!
The service was good and efficient, especially at breakfast where they kept things replenished and cleared away quickly.
Staff were very helpful when I stupidly left something behind in the room safe, posting it on to our next hotel.
The pool looked inviting but we never got around to having a dip. Towels were available poolside though and those people who did take the plunge seemed to enjoy it.
