“Amazing views over Toledo”
Reviewed June 10, 2012

Superb site overlooking Toledo. Very good restaurant and service on the terrace with superb views. Our room a junior suite was good and had great views although no balcony. Service in bar was great on first day and terrible on the second day. Breakfast was reasonable

The main reason for staying was the views and the fact we wanted a little luxury after 2 weeks of 60 Euro hotels. We weren't disappointed!

Having booked a double room at the 18-35s rate of 148Euros, we decided to upgrade to a junior suite to get a double bed rather than two singles. It was 215Euros, but well worth it: 3 big windows looking directly at Toledo and another 2 looking over the pool. Rooms very clean and ok good repair, although I did find a clump of hair in the sink.

I'd agree that service in the cafeteria was a little brusque, but I think this was down to one girl - we had her at breakfast the next day and she was the same, but a colleague was lovely. The staff on reception were fantastic.

Overall, this made a great stay and thoroughly worth the money - especially due to the amazing view. First time in a Parador, but in terms of luxury hotels with over 10 rooms, I would say this is very good for the price.

One tip - the city illuminations turn off at midnight - make sure you are back early enough to enjoy them, as the night view is unbeatable!

We stayed in a corner room (419) with a larger terrace. Fantastic view of Toledo. The room was spacious. You could sit comfortably on the terrace and get a great view. Had dinner in the restaurant and watched the sunset. The ponche mazapan with a scoop of apple ice cream dessert was nice. They could improve in amenities though.

It was so hot when we arrived in Toledo that we were happy to check into our lovely, large clean room with A/Cnd return to the shaded terrace, drink a beer and absorb the fantastic view without enduring the oven below.

The pool is fabulous and, like the parador itself, well-maintained by a fabulous staff. The reviewer who noted that the parador needs some "sprucing up" (new hall carpets, rugs in the rooms and a little paint would go a long way in that regard), it is still the best venue near to Toledo.

The restaurant is great! We very much enjoyed both al fresco meals overlooking the lit city. The service was superb and the portions so large that they would have easily fed 4 people.

The staff were the best aspect of this hotel. The building is tired and the food choice limited and not up to general Parador standards - especially for the price.
The staff were, however, unfailingly friendly and helpful and the room and bathroom spotlessly clean.
Fantastic views and much preferable to staying in Toledo itself which is a ten minute cab ride away.
Do book a room with a terrace.

Room Tip: Well worth a room with a terrace overlooking Toledo.

Great experience overall, and definitely recommmend it, but some pros and cons:
-5-star quality of hotel and rooms
-Stunning views of the city
-Best shower and largest rooms in my experience all over Spain
-Nice balcony considering pool view not city view.
-A romantic place, great for views, drinks on the restaurant patio, etc.
-great breakfast buffet.

Cons:
-Far from the city. Bus service exists but a walk from the hotel. Too far to walk to the town, so access limited by taxi, your own car if have one, or a long bus walk.
-Staff not anxious to help and limited English skills.
-Rooms not all city view, and book early as the hotel fills up fast.

Room Tip: Ask for city view

We stayed at this Parador to break our journey from Santander to Mojacar, and as we were celebrating our 41st wedding anniversary wanted to stay somewhere special, we were not disappoined! We have stayed at many Paradors, but this is definately the best we have experienced so far! Situated on a hill, it overlooks Toledo, so the views are stunning. The room was spacious, spotless, comfortable with a bathroom to die for! We also had a balcony overlooking the swimming pool. The restaurant was large but comfortable and the food good, again the service was faultless. We had never been to Toledo before, and like the Parador, we found it a most sophisticated city, steeped in history, with the most awesome cathedral we have ever visited.. We will definately return but will stay a few nights next time!

Room Tip: request a room with a balcony
