When I was in Toledo, that little town made me felt like I'm back in time, walked through all that winding narrow streets and 3 cultures (Jewish, Christian and Muslims) in one town.

The magnificent Toledo Cathedral is a place to visit. It is in Plaza de Ayuntamiento. In that little plaza, beside the beautiful Toledo Church, you also can explore the Archbishop's palace and theTown hall. Just one short walk, you can see 3 historial buildings, not bad.

The unique city gates and bridges that made me feel like spending more time to check them out.

Toledo is very close to Madrid, only an hour drive, so please put this town into your plan to visit list.
Happy travelling!

It has a cafeteria at the top and a museum. The building is close to the Catedral and easy to walk....

The City Hall building was designed by the famous architect Juan Herrera, who designed El Escorial. The building is elegant and there is a large plaza between it and the Cathedral. At the ground floor there is a tourist office where one can get a free map of the city.

Toledo is an amazing and beautiful Spanish city high on a table (see photos), that was once the capital of Spain, with a great deal to do and see in its busy streets, including a magnificent Cathedral. Our visit there was however 'made' in a most unusual way, when we came across a young lady busking by the Cathedral, playing wonderful music on a very striking type of Violin, (which can be seen here being played in a classical form http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gWeXf_FNGc0 ). We watched until she had finished playing and the group of folk had drifted off. Ana Alcaide is a remarkable Toledo talent, who speaks excellent English. She introduced us to the fact that there are FREE concerts held in the square in front of the Town Hall on several nights of the week. From that day we enjoyed several varieties of entertainment each night (from around 9 p.m. though watch out for posters). The best of these was Ana playing with a 7 piece 'band' - which was superb. Ana has released 3 CDs and a video and we bought them all on the night! This piece is from her most recent album, as is this played with a group of players (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iYSq9fpq7qc) in the way that we saw her.

Toledo is so compact and densely built, finding a sizeable square in order to step back and better see the old architecture was a pleasant surprise and the space to stop without possibly blocking foot traffice helped us re-orient ourselves after consulting our map.
