“Good Paella”
Reviewed September 25, 2012

Very much a family-run, local place.
We went for the paella and enjoyed it - loads of sea food in it.
Paella, bread, wine and ice-cream, 20 euro/head for 4 of us.

“The best paella”
Reviewed August 17, 2012

We went there for lunch; at the beginning we were the only customers in the room, but, by the time we left, the place was crowded with local people.
Specialty of the house is paella (with fish) - which we had, with some very good sangria. If you have not reserved, it takes about 20 mins to prepare the paella. Worth the wait - excellent.
Service and atmosphere very "typical" and not touristic.
Highly Recommended.

“Did we go to the same restaurant?”
Reviewed July 5, 2012

We heard about Casa Albo in the Footprint guide to Northern Spain. Excitedly we ordered the much raved about Paella, but what a huge disappointment it was: it looked a bit 'grey', tasted really salty, the prawns were like rubber, and the peas and beans were tinned not fresh. To top it off we were charged for stale bread we did not order or eat. Strange experience. Seems standards may have slipped?

“superb paella”
Reviewed September 22, 2011

Four of visited on a Sunday night, when it was very quiet. However, this just meant that we got the personal attention of the patron! Three had paella - which is the speciality of the restaurant and the other had venison on the recommendation of the patron. The paella was rated as the best they had ever eaten, while the venison was fantastic. In all cases, the portions were huge - we probably could have fed 6! Excellent value too - all meals were a flat 15 Euro each.

“A great local place for a good paella”
Reviewed September 18, 2011

Looking for a restaurant on a Sunday night when many are closed in Santander we passed this one and frankly wouldn't have given it a second look if it hadn't been fro a mention on Trip Advisor. You have to go through the local's bar to find the small restaurant at the back, but it is worth it! The proprietor is a real local character and very welcoming - assuming (correctly) that we wanted the paella. It is a 20 minute wait - as it should be to be freshly made - and we paid 4 euros extra for the 'special'. It was well worth it, with lots of seafood! A good quality Ribero Crianza rounded off a lovely meal. Total 30 euros each with bread, water etc.
