Really friendly, helpful staff who speak good English and so I avoided embarrassing myself with my useless Spanish. The food was fresh, plentiful and very tasty. Can recommend the tortillitas. Will be back again

Arriving in before lunch, it quickly became very busy by 1400. The barmen were great and we had some fantastic tapas, namely the calamari and the glorias potatoes which were delic. the atmosphere in the place was great and it was the perfect place to enjoy some good tapas and a few afternoon beverages.

This is a great bar. The staff are so friendly and the pinchos and the Jamon Bellota are delicious as were the complimentary little bowls of Sopa di cantabria - a creamy garlicy soup

I have been visiting 'Gloria' at least once a year for the past 10 years. The staff and owner are smart, friendly, attentive and more importantly very tolerant of a large bald headed Scot who likes to sit at the end of the bar watching the world go by! The beer on tap is always quality and dispensed from a very ornate fountain.

The Tapas are mouth wateringly tasty and always fresh. There is a little fella, who it would appear works about 16 hours a day, cooking it all up in the kitchen which is visible from the bar. The platos combinados can however be a bit hit and miss so it's probably wise to give it a miss if you do not understand what it is!

During the day the clentele are a typical cross section of Northern Spanish white collar workers and smart ladies who shop. My favourites are the smartly dressed old boys who tuck in their shirts and tour the bars. At night it generally empties out a bit but only after about 2100. Young students, mums with push chairs and old dears pop in for a little coffee or that red wine and coke combo that is so popular. I tend to hit the top shelf for half a pint of absolut and tonica which is made with an attention to detail never found in the UK.

They also let you watch the football if it is on!(Note; You glory boys/girls are probably best leaving your Barcelona shirt back in the hotel room as this is solid Real country. Passionate is the word and eventhough you probably will not be the victim of an assault the locals will be justifiably be unhappy with you taking liberties in their lovely city).

My fear is that one day I will turn the corner in anticipation only to find this bar/cafe gone. Cannot wait to get back this Easter!
