The lovely view is the main attraction of this hotel. The facilities are nice enough, and much better value for money than San Sebastian. The only drawback was the fact that they gave a couple two single beds, claiming that none of the ocean view rooms (for which one pays a premium) have double beds, which is not the best for couples.

Room Tip: The hotel staff tells us there are no ocean view rooms with double beds - don't bother paying ex...

Dear Guest,

Our deluxe rooms have spectacular views of the beach of Sardinero but, as you said, they have all two singles beds together. No doubt that we will consider your suggestions for future hotel renovations.

We were in Santander for a friend's wedding, and stayed at the Silken Rio for 7 nights. We had a sea view room on the 5th floor and lovely weather - the views are fantastic. Helpful staff although as mentioned below the check-in process seems very slow compared to other places.

The breakfast was great, and it's very easy to get to the town centre on the bus (although we eat very well at some of the places close to the hotel too.)

The only downside for me was the terrible wi-fi - on the 5th floor at least it was impossible to access the hotel's network. As of July 12th this was still a problem - perhaps the hotel should check wi-fi access throughout the hotel.

Room Tip: The sea-view is amazing.

A great hotel with a view of the wide beach of the Bay of Biscay. The hotel's location is very convenient for exploring the historic city center, but there is no problem at all to get from him on the bus. We managed to get to the city center on foot the magnificent waterfront. In the surrounding there are attractions such as the Maritime Museum, the park on the peninsula of Magdalena with playgrounds and a small zoo, the palace in 1912, the summer residence of King Alfonso XIII, in which Santander has become a popular holiday resort. By no complaints about the room, confused one - too small, but very comfortable with a large bathroom. No breakfast, no lunch did not order, eat in the city. Very decent hotel. Advise.

Dear Guest,

Our hotel is located in the beaches zone, the best area in Santander but as you comment there are a lot of buses to go to the center town and there is also a lovely promenade if you want to go on food.

Our breakfast and our restaurant are really good so we invite you to check them in your next visit.

Best Regards

The check-in process was painfully slow - I am not sure if this is typical in Spain, but after a long journey, the first thing you want to do is to get to your room, and have a lovely shower.

My room did not have the sea view - it faces another building. It was also quite small - the WiFi was intermittent. The spread over breakfast was quite good - it also included fresh fruits.

I felt that there isn't sufficient sitting space in the lobby - only 2 seats.

Overall, it was a comfortable stay - if you prefer a sea-view room (recommended), you should make the request in advance.

Room Tip: It is worthwhile paying a little more to get a room with a sea view, as the sea is truly gorgeous.

Dear Guest,

We appreciate your comments about our services because we try to improve every day. In the next visit to Santander you can reserve a “Deluxe Mar” room. They are more beautiful and they have amazing sea views.

We are increasing the network and early we will have a better and quick WIFI.

It will be a pleasure for us recieve you the next time.

Best regards

I spent 2 nights in this hotel and found it to be very clean, the rooms are pretty big and well equiped. Sanitary equipment is very moden and there is a good range of products available. Breakfast buffet is reasonably big and offers everything that one can expect. The only big disadvantage was the erratic and most of times unavailable wireless internet signal. I had to go to the reception to capture a reasonable signal. My colleagues had the same problems. From my room I had a nice view to the sea.

Room Tip: Ask for a seaview room, they are very nice.

The location of this hotel could not be better as it overlooks the main beach of beautiful golden sand. My room had a perfect sea view and was clean and comfortable.
As seems normal these days drinks in the minibar were grossly overpriced. €6.60 for a miniature of vodka is ridiculous in Spain.
Unfortunately during my 4 night stay in mid-May the Sun did not appear once, and I was forced to spend time at the hotel waiting for the frequent rain showers to pass over, however there are no public areas other than the bistro/cafe where the chairs are uncomfortably hard and in a poor condition. The food in the bistro was disappointing compared with the many bars nearby.
Nevertheless if I ever return to Santander I shall stay at the Rio Silken, provided I get my sea view.

Room Tip: Insist on a sea view, and as high up as possible.

We stayed here as it seemed like it was in a good location with a sea view.
We booked a superior sea view room, great view but the room looked very different from what I was expecting. The rooms they show you on the web is not what you get in reality. This is always a bug bear of mine and I wish hotels wouldn't do this. At best it's misleading and you end up feeling a little ripped off.
The location was a little further from where I was expecting, about a 30 minute walk to the main restaurant area, but a pleasant walk, usually with a view of the sea.
The breakfast were good for me, although most Brits and Americans I know would probably be disappointed with the limited cooked choices on offer. There was a good selection of cheeses, meats, breads etc and a particularly good soft white cheese they served with salsa. Also a really good local cheesecake.
The service was friendly and helpfull and all in all it was a good choice in a hugely underrated part of Spain.

Dear Guest,

Our hotel is not in the center of Santander but it is in the area of El Sardinero, one of the best in town. It's right across from the beach and the main tourist attractions. The ride is very nice but also has buses that run every 5 minutes to the commercial area.

Our rooms have spectacular views across the beach of Sardinero so we encourage you again on future occasions choose our Deluxe room or a slightly higher as the Club Deluxe.

We are glad that you enjoyed our breakfast buffet. We try to have enough variety to please all our customers.

We look forward to welcoming you next trip.

Sincerely,
