A small busy very friendly and genuine place. Despite language difficulties we understood each other well. We were served food to share suggested by the chef and it was all delicious. And so was the tinto from Tenerife. By all means a place to visit while in Santa Cruz.

A late lunch on New Years Eve in this extremely busy and charming taberna was well worth waiting for. On arriving at this very typical restaurant we were initially taken aback by the throng of people inside. The smells of recently prepared food and a continuous hubbub of noise made for a very inviting atmosphere. In true Spanish style not an inch of bar space was free whilst all tables were taken. Being used to this we managed to squeeze into the first bar space that came available and immediately received attention from the attentive bar staff. An extensive menu of Canarian specialities was on the chalkboards behind the bar and we eased into our first glasses of red wine with a speedily prepared plate of Jamón and local cheese. A plate of grilled prawns was ordered by which time one of the waiting staff had reserved us a table and had us sitting comfortably. Even at 3,20 in the afternoon our space at the bar disappeared before we sat down !

Lunch then comprised a wonderful potaje de verduras, stuffed courgettes, probably the best "secreto of pork" I have ever tasted and then a wonderful plate of "chuletitas" of rabbit. The flavours were fantastic and I would recommend all of it, interestingly for us the pork came with an apple sauce on the side not something we get that often in Spain but it really made the pork even better. A satisfying dessert followed and the wines throughout were very good.

The bill was reasonable and the whole experience perfect to end 2012 this will probably be one of the first restaurants we visit in 2013.

If its a local spot with a lot of atmosphere , look no further. Hugely popular serving local food at a very reasonable rate. What is also refreshing is that the bar staff do not make you feel like an a
alien if you are non Spaniard. In fact they are hugely welcoming.
If its a quiet spot you are looking for or a romantic evening don,t go here. On the other hand if its a bar with good food, bristling with atmosphere this is your little gem.

Every time I go to Tenerife, I have to come here.

The food is amazing. The avocado with tomato, the warm salad, the ham, the desserts... Everything in the menu is excellent. As well as the service.

It's a must!!

So if you don't get in by 12 or 13.00 latest your going to cue. Bare in mind most people prefer a table to sit at then the bar so it's best to mention if you don't mind! Apart from the Jamon which is plentiful there are also cool local dishes like mini rabbit cutlets not my cup of tea at all but apparently the best dish ever from MrP. Their fish is fresh & they only cook what they're able to source locally. They also have a pretty yummy selection of vegetarian dishes alcachofas empanadas particularly yummy.
Service is fast & most tables share dishes portions being on the large side!
