Just returned from a two week stay in Maria's apartment. The apartment was clean, comfortable and ideally situated. It was as per the photographs. Beds were very comfortable and plenty of linen/towels were provided. Lots of space. The north facing balcony gave excellent views of the lively scene below. I heard a bit of noise from the road, none from neighbours. There was a supermarket across the road from the apartment which was large enough to supply all my needs. I also used the Mercado Nuestra Señora de Africa market which was, as all things are, within easy walking distance. Loads of stalls and if you fancy a cooked chicken, that's where you can get one. The apartment is 15 minutes walk from the bus station and it's a doddle to navigate. Up the hill, turn right, you're there! I flew in to the south airport and transferred by bus. TITSA line 111. Get a BONO ticket from the Lycamobile kiosk in Arrivals or the small gift shop next to WH Smith in Departures. Available in 15 or 25 Euro amounts. You then use this in the ticket machine on the bus as you get on and the journey price is deducted and the new balance printed on the card. You can use it for more than one person. Just feed it in the machine again for subsequent persons. The fare to Santa Cruz is 7 Euro pp with the ticket and circa 10 Euro pp if you elect to pay cash instead. On the days when Santa Cruz weather was inclement, I caught the TITSA 110 bus direct to Los Cristianos on the south coast. Cost is about 12 Euro pp. Unlike the 111 bus, the 110 only stops once en route so it's the fast track to the sunshine. Having said that, of the 14 days in Santa Cruz, 10 were sunny and warm and most of the remaining days were overcast and warm. In January! If you plan to hire a car, you need to research car parking before committing yourself. It was rare to see a parking space on the streets. You might find that car parking is an unexpectedly expensive overhead. Personally I wouldn't bother hiring a car. The hassle of it would probably easily outweigh any benefits.
