This area on the edge of the city is a great place to watch the canarians go about their day. The fountain is spectacular in its own minimalistic way.

Great square with an impresive Monumento de los Caidos, a monument dedicated to the fallen heroes of Spain that gave their lives in the civil war against communists. There is a black entrance to the underground display of a wall of a former Santa Cruz Castle which also houses El Tigre - a cannon which is believed, has taken off admiral Horatio Nelson's arm during his unsuccesful invasion of Tenerife.

Distinctly unimpressed by this landmark. Unfortunately there was no evidence of a fountain so maybe we saw it at it's least welcoming. Left after 5 mins. and went back into the town.

This is a modern plaza on the port-side. Made up of a large modern shallow pond, with a vast fountain. There are a number of seats around the outside both in the sun a shade. There are a couple of kiosks selling snacks and drinks with cafe's and restaurants close by. Being in the centre of the city, this place is quiet and tranquil. Underneath down some steps are the original city walls. A view across the bay the ferries and cruise ships come and go. A short walk will take you back to the busy shopping streets.
