If you’re planning an event in Mencey, I would suggest to look elsewhere. Though the place,location,and beauty of the hotel is an advantage, the management of the event is no where near the standards expected for the price and ranking of the hotel. Their service staff needs training as they are not informed and are ignorant on specific and special meals as requested during the meeting and agreements prior to the event. In addition to that, the sound system continuously failed and interrupted the speeches which created a delay and frustration for the guests. Hopefully the team and management would take consideration in improving these points as it’s a pity to loose out on an emblematic hotel.

Stayed here this week for one night while on business. Lovely hotel with some classic styling. The rooms are clean and good size.
I would suggest adding an iron in the rooms so people can iron shirts. Breakfast choice was good and to a high standard.
Only downside is on the second floor the hall carpets to the rooms are very marked indeed which is a shame compared to the rooms and general areas. I will use this hotel again for sure.

Stayed here for 9 nights in May while attending a family member’s graduation. We booked a garden suite and were very pleased with the spacious accommodation overlooking the gardens and pool. Our suite was kept spotless by the excellent housekeeping staff.

The location is perfect for accessing restaurants and attractions including the beautiful park across the street. Breakfast in the restaurant was outstanding with virtually every selection you could possibly ask for including gluten free options and cooked to order items.

The concierge and front desk staff are gracious, welcoming and helpful whenever assistance or Information is needed. Unfortunately, I had a medical incident which required a visit to the emergency room. The concierge promptly arranged for emergency transportation and greeted me when returning later in the day.

In summary, we had an excellent stay at this lovely hotel and would highly recommend to those looking for a higher end experience. The only criticism I have is that the gym hours (opening at 9 am on weekends and 7 am weekdays) is a bit late for those of us on an early work out regimen. Since we have family in Santa Cruz, we definitely plan on returning to the Grand Mencey for our next visit to the island.

Very nice, modern hotel. The food is outstanding. We had lunch by the nice pool twice, the staff was really helpful and nice (Zahira). The pool is very cozy with a very nice SPA next to it. Rooms are not outstanding but are fine. Underground parking is chargeable €12/day, unfortunately. Location is great in Santa Cruz.

Booked a short holiday for some early sunshine. Santa Cruz we loved, so well looked after, clean, beautiful park over the road from the hotel. There was good shopping and locals going about their day, which was a refreshing change from the South of the Island. Our deluxe dble was garden facing and large enough for us and our 12 year old daughter. We asked for a room with afternoon sun - we got it! It was boiling on the balcony!! We overlooked the pool and gardens and the room was v quiet and clean with good soundproofing.
Ask for robes and they will be delivered to your room.
The hotel, in our opinion, should be adults only for guests. Our daughter was only allowed in the outdoor pool, there was absolutely nothing else for her to do. No activities, no access to the gym or spa pool (which charges €18 for 2 hour circuit - even for hotel guests - rude).
If I had realised this, I would not have booked. Don’t get me wrong, I love an opulent 5* but she was just bored stiff - just as well she loves swimming!
We went 1/2 board. Breakfasts were amazing, dinner not so. It was a la carte, but same menu every night with no specials. We had had enough after 3 nights. There are loads of really great tapas bars and restaurants - go mix with the locals is our suggestion.
Staff were all charming.
Loved the terrapins!
Didn’t like €14 for a gin and tonic - but then the hotel was 5*.
Especially didn’t like everyone smoking on the pool side. There was a sign stating this was prohibited. I complained to the pool man, he shrugged his shoulders - I was not happy. I know that smoking in public places is legal in Spain, but you couldn’t avoid it anywhere. We are lucky in the UK.
One bunch of faux rock star types were an utter pain, but normality was restored when they checked out!
Do go to the Sunday street market if you get a chance it’s crazy and you can buy literally anything from broken wall sockets to Plada!
Maybe some food for thought Iberostar? We are well travelled by the way, not simply serial moaners
