This hotel was splendid - it has fantastic views, along with a very beautiful interior with clean and modern rooms. The beds were extremely comfortable; everything was top notch about this hotel. As far as value for money was concerned, I wish I could get this everywhere. The breakfast may have been on the high end, but the restaurant was definitely a five-star experience and worth it from my view. The fitness centre was very clean and modern and unfortunately when we visited the thermal pools were closed but looks like it will be very nice. The only drawback I can possibly think of was that parking was an additional charge of 16 euros/day, but I didn't go out of my way to see if there was street parking, so that may have been an option. I would definitely go back there and also highly recommend staying in this part of Tenerife for a traditional experience as opposed to the tourist resorts.

I spent a night at Iberostar Grand Hotel Mencey (room 155 check in 23 check out 24 feb 2012) and it has been a great pleasure. Everything is classy , spa and gym area are amazing..
The restaurant is probably overpriced but the service and menu are first class.
Room is simple and comfortable
Everything is both classic and modern (white neoclassic columns and walls , solid wood floors , big flat screen tv in the room and wifi everywhere)
This is definetly the place to be while in Santa cruz

We stayed four nights in the Grand Hotel Mencey earlier this month - in a superior room with balcony overlooking the gardens. As others have noted this hotel (previously operated under the Sheraton brand and now Iberostar) has undergone a total refurbishment - only re-opening in mid December. We stayed in the hotel on several occasions when it was operated under the Sheraton brand and had noted towards the end that renovation was well overdue. The hotel is now what you would expect of a five star city hotel - excellent decor and furniture throughout, comfortable public areas, well equipped and very comfortable rooms and professional staff focussed on welcoming guests and responding quickly and efficiently to queries.
Unfortunately, because of other commitments, we were only able to use the restaurant for breakfast. The dining room is fairly large, well furnished, with excellent decor and well-spaced tables. The staff are professional and anxious to please. Guests have the choice of selecting what they want from a buffet with a wide range of cold ant hot dishes or ordering hot dishes from a fairly comprehensive menu.
The hotel is situated close to a pleasant park and within walking distance (or short taxi ride) of the main shopping areas.
As we visit Santa Cruz three or four times a year we shall most certainly stay in the Grand Hotel Mencey again and shall recommend it to others seeking a "stunning" hotel in Santa Cruz. Importantly, we also came away feeling that the hotel offered good value for the money spent.

Bearing in mind that we only stayed at this hotel due to an overnight delay in our flight from nearby Tenerife North airport, this hotel almost made the delay worthwhile.
It had recently (November 2011) re-opened after a 'Savoy-like' refit and is quite simply now world class.
Loved it!

My wife and I were there for a weekend scape, I had been in that hotel a few times before. It had change the managment company, now is an Iberostar property, they had done a total reform of the property, it is a complete new hotel and under my point of view is one of the most amaizing hotel I had ever seen. It just beutiful. the room is very confortable, the breakfast buffet was outstanding and the service was great. I will strongley recommend this hotel to anyone that visits Tenerife Island, wich I have to said that is beutifull.
great job at the reform, congratulatons.

Room Tip: ask for the ones that looks to the garden and pool
