“the worst hotel ever”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 23, 2007

this holiday is fantastic if you are into mountain climbing as it is situated in the most remote place possible half way up a mountain. there are no shops worth going into within walking distance. the main resort is about five miles away with a free bus service running from the hotel that fails to turn up on most occasions and its from 6-10 euro by taxi ' very expensive after a week'. This holiday is also ideal from those not looking a sun holiday as there is a constant mist surrounding the area due to the mountains blocking out the sun. The accomadation was rubbish, the furniture was falling apart and the balcony door does not lock in any of the rooms which was crap because we were on the bottom floor therefore anyone was free to walk in and out of our apartment. We were the only irish family bar one other in the complex mostly spanish and german and even they were not enjoying themselves. There is none of the facilities that this apartment advertises like laundrette etc and the pool was closed for 4 days throughout our holiday. none of the staff speak english and were not very accomadating. The food in the hotel was terrible, so much so that as soon as it hit my stomach it came straight back up again. By the second day we had had enough and i would rather be a work than on holiday at this apartment. The kitchen facilities in the apartment consisted of two rings, no grill, no oven. We were told by several people that we were situated in the area where locals who work in the main resort live. There is nothing good i can report about this place and we are not alone, everyone who stayed at this hotel when we were there were of the same opinion. The hotel entertainment consisted of a german and spanish singer and this occurs one night in the week which is more than enough.

We were very pleased with the Bahia Parque Apartments. My wife and I stayed at the Bahia Parque with our three children aged 10, 12 and 13.

We booked this at the last minute on a tight budget; the price was very reasonable indeed but the accommodation was spacious, the hotel facilities were good (bar, table tennis, pool table, internet access), the staff extremely pleasant and helpful, and I would not hesitate to recommend it to others. Bar and restaurant prices were very good in the hotel, too.

We were able to park the hire car next to the hotel, which was very convenient.

The self catering cooking facilies are very basic, the kitchenette containing 2 electric hob plates, a fridge, and odd assorted plates, cups, saucers and cutlery, but for us it enabled us to have a light breakfast and lunch in our apartment and go into town for a meal in the evening, which was ideal.

It is not the lap of luxury but nonetheless very comfortable and had good facilities, and again bearing in mind the price, which was very reasonable, gave us good value for money.

The hotel has a view out to sea, although it is not right on the coast. It is within walking distance from the local town (village) of Los Realjos and 10 minutes drive from the centre of Puerto de la Cruz. We hired a car, which was ideal, but there is a free hourly bus service from the hotel into Puerto de la Cruz.

The area generally is quiet, although Puerto de la Cruz is a lively and very pleasant town, and this part of the island is more suited to families or people wanting a quiet holiday; the clubbers should head for Playa de las Americas or Los Cristianos on the south west side of the island.

All in all, a good choice for those who want reasonable facilities and a pleasant environment but without it costing the Earth.

  • Liked — Spacious rooms, friendly staff, well priced accommodation and drinks etc., nice location
  • Disliked — Kitchen facility in self catering apartment very basic, room decor a little drab

Me and my husband stayed at this hotel during the last week of July 2007 . It is a 3* Hotel but I would say it is more a 2* . It is an apartment with a little kitchen+ livingroom , balcony, bedroom + bathroom. The rooms were cleaned 5x a week but not very good, after they cleaned the rooms ther was still sand on the floors and the bathroom was not that clean either. The rooms do not have a TV - but you could hire one of you like, and the rooms do not have air - conditioning or a fan - so the rooms were very hot at night which was very unconftable to sleep in. We had a room towards the back of the Hotel which was nice and quiet all day and night which was a plus point .
The food was very basic - Dinner each day there seems to be the same dishes of potatoes, rice, pasta, meat and fish , together with a small selection of salads , fruit and ice cream for desserts.
Breakfast was even more basic with rolls and toast, ham, cheese and salami, some jams sometimes honey and juice - only on Sunday s there was a cooked breakfast with scrambled eggs, sausages etc.
The people working in the hotel were nice and friendly but this would not make me go back there.
If you want to get anywhere you would also need a car - although there is a free bus service provided 5x a week every hour to Puerto de la Cruz which is about 6 min away from the hotel.

It is a basic hotel, with basic food, a dirty pool, not very clean rooms and away from anything - if you can don`t go there as there are much nicer places to stay, and if you go be prepared to get basic then you won`t be too disappointed.

  • Liked — Room was nice and big, it was quiet
  • Disliked — not very clean rooms, dirty pool, boring food, no air-con
