This was our third time staying at the Masaru in La Paz, and we weren't disappointed. This time we had a studio looking back into the garden area, and tennis court area. It was very quite at night, and we had a lovely view of Teide from our balcony.

The big attraction of staying here is the lovely pool and surroundings. The bar/cafe does a nice range of snacks.

Guests can avail of wi-fi in the lobby area, although they now issue tickets with an account number and associated password that are valid for twelve hours.

The hotels continues to be very clean - our room was cleaned regularly.

I just love staying in La Paz with it's Germanic feel!

We had a lovely week in the Masaru apartments. When we first arrived the receptionist sent us to a third floor studio, which we couldnt stay in because the previous occupier must have been a very heavy cigar smoker. We went back to reception and a very nice young man exchanged our key card for another and told us it was a very nice room and if we wanted something else just to ask. we needed more pillows and they arrived within five minutes. A kettle would have been handy to boil water but just made do with microwave.Quiet-ish, great location, Just hope they finish working on renewing the roads and pavements outside the hotel, before too long. (they are working on it).Overall great base for touring around.

We stayed the previous year, 2007, at the Teide Mar Apartments in La Paz, which is just down the road. I passed the Masaru almost every day - it looked more modern. I made a mental note that if we returned to PDLC, we would stay there. This year we did, and I'm glad.

The La Paz area, in general, is nice and quiet, and the Masaru is a great location in which to get some decent rest and relaxation.

It's strongest point is the large pool and gardens at the back of the complex. The pool, in particular, is big, clean, and kept under supervision by a pool-guard.

There is a nice terrace bar overlooking the pool area, and the staff there are top-class. Order your drinks and food, and they will be delivered pool-side when ready. I associate the service with a four or five-star establishment.

We tried the in-house buffet restaurant on one night. The standard of food and choice was very good. If I was on a budget holiday, I would be satisfied to eat there every night.

The first-floor studio apartment we stayed in overlooked Calle Robles and was decent enough for the price we paid. It had twin beds and a well-fitted small kitchen unit (fridge, sink, microwave, crockery and cooking utensils).

Downstairs there is free Wifi access around the lobby area, and some Internet terminals for hire. There is a small supermercado under the complex on Calle Robles with a reasonable supply of foods and drinks.

There is a shop in the lobby area that sells the normal stuff (books, papers, souvenirs, film, sweets and chocolates).

We enjoyed our stay and the Masaru and look forward to our return in 2009.

This hotel was perfect for the week we spent in Tenerife. Great pool (largest in area), close to botanic gardens, tons of nearby restaurants, relatively quiet, next door to car rental. Nice staff with full European breakfast (From cereal to croissants to cut meats) every morning. Large rooms with comfy bed (poor pillows) and a small kitchenette for those wanting to eat in. Small gorcery stores in area to get most items. Nice balcony too. Internet access in lobby area (not in rooms). Nice bar too.

located in the up market la paz district, less than a mile from the centre but high up so much climbing of stairs up and down to the sea front. shops around + a large supermarket about 500 metres away. has free wifi in lobby.

pluses for us were cooking facilities (hob + microwave) and fridge in room; very pleasant setting with nice grounds and mountain views; nice balconies for most pool view rooms (road view can be noisy other guests told us); very large and climatised pool.

minuses are the real possibility of a noisy room (we had minor problems from noise coming through open balcony doors from our neighbour + other guests had major problems with thin walls and floor scraping from above); small single beds with rubber undersheets - not ideal if it is hot. most staff helful, but in our case we received the worst welcome from one that we've ever had.

we only had breakfast which had a lot of choice but mediocre quality.

if you like walking this is the base and pick up point for KWA Walking, whose guided walks I recommend.

I thought that tales of Germans (who form the majority of guests at the masaru) bagging sun loungers were exaggerated but the best entertainment here really does occur at 0900 when the doors to the pool area are unlocked and a column of 30-40 people, some with several towels, advances to take control of the prime positions - even some of their fellow countrymen were laughing at them.

Pleasant apartment hotel in quiet Le Paz area about half a mile out of town. Quiet gardens/pool at rear with handy bar/cafe. Good for B&B only as restaurant food average. Good choice of restaurants nearby.
