I would like to say that I have been 8 days at this hotel with my family and we were so happy with the time that we've been here, everything was fine you have plenty options to eat and drink, food was fantastic, my girls enjoy a lot the swimming pool and the entertainment at nights, the thing maybe is to get entertainment for adults too, although we enjoyed the shows, the distance to the town center is not far but you have to take a car to go there, the beach I didn't like it in this area, the nice beaches you have to go to the south of the island is 1 hour far from the hotel, I will come back to this hotel if I come back to Tenerife, thanks to everyone of the staff in Playacanaria, all of them were very kind, helpful and I want to say thank you to all of them. Thanks

Very pleased with this hotel. Went with a party of 11 aged between 3 - 57, everyone enjoyed it here. Very clean rooms and pleasant staff. Great food (we went half board). Very good value for money. Only downfalls are the tiles in the pool need replacing as many have come off and is rough on your feet, also there wasn't many English people there (might of been the time of year). Quite a long walk to the centre and the beaches but a shuttle bus is provided hourly which was very handy for the children with us. Overall a great week at Playacanaria Spa Hotel. Big thumbs up!

Room Tip: My room was on the highest floor (5) and was based in the roof, big spacious balcony facing the volc...

We enjoyed our stay, as the second part of a two week holiday shared between Lanzarote and Tenerife, with the following points to consider:
1. After a week of Lanzagrotty and its bleak, black landscape, it was a relief to see green, fertile land again. The surprise was the steepness and height of the inland mountains: the description 'Madeira' comes to mind. The hotel is located in a quiet, residential area fifteen minutes by regular shuttlebus from a destination upmarket shopping mall in the Port of Cruz that it overlooks. Be careful when using the bus, because the queues can exceed the number of seats, and no standing is allowed, especially when leaving early. Neither is the service as punctual as could be expected, and we and others were stranded at times . Taxis are a cheap alternative.
2. As is usual with tours organised by operators represented at the hotel, prices are on the high side, and there are plenty of under-used car hire firms operating (one is just outside the hotel), for more flexibility.
3. I found the front desk staff irritating at times, with one particular female totally ignoring me, and carrying on with her phone call to another client, making no attempt to politely cut it short. She even avoided eye contact with me, which was a big black mark in my books. Why is it that staff at this hotel chain seem to busy themselves in front of computer screens or on the phone, at the expense of customers standing there? It is a ploy that I often see with salesfolk, to put prospective clients on the backfoot and I DO not like it!
4. Our room was at the side of the hotel, facing what seemed to be a landslide but others believed to be a rubbish dump, with no mention of this by the hotel. Beyond this eyesore was a derelict site, the walls of which were covered with juvenile graffiti. Yuk!
5. I liked the clever use of mirrors in the general toilets, which gave the impression of being in a long chorus line. I even tried to perform high kicks on one occasion, after too many drinks, and splashed my trousers.
6. Congratulations to the hotel on maintaining a reasonable level of peace in the restaurant, so that guests can enjoy their food without waiters throwing plates and cutlery around, but I still wish that they could behave with more consideration. Like its sister hotel in Lanzarote, this is a big problem that needs a cure.
7. The food was good because there were plenty of alternative dishes available, but the quality was lower than in Lanzarote and got worse as the week wore on. Once again, the grilled offerings were regularly over-cooked, with thinly sliced chicken fillets proving suitable for putting on the soles of shoes. There was one grill chef, who seemed to be French and garrulous, who could not talk and cook simultaneously; he would regularly fail to put sufficient food of specific types on the cooking surface, and would then ask optimistically for ' a few minutes' before resuming his conversations with other guests. Often, he would get distracted to serve others with pancakes and the like. I got the feeling that he had been kicked out of the kitchen for being a nuisance. More than once I gave up waiting and moved on to satisfy my hunger elsewhere.
8. The room was fine, except for the view. We even had two proper glasses in the bathroom instead of plastic ones! We had several problems with the door, because the card would be rejected a few times before the door light turned green. During the holiday, the hotel changed the card settings, preventing us and others from using our cards altogether. My door had obviously had a good kicking at some stage, since the lock plate was really loose. We were told that the change was for 'security' reasons, which is worrying if theft is widespread, as that implies. My advice would be to have a pee before going to your room, if you need one, otherwise wear incontinence pants. One other thing: the room fridge can be hired for a few Euros, and the shelf above used for storing valuables, under lock and key. The price this chain of hotels expects to charge to hire a safe is over the top, if security is that much of a problem.
9, We took our excursions using the regular, inexpensive public buses, but found the twisting, high roads to be hair-raising at speed and I started twitching after a while. A few paid excursions would have been on better roads, but a hire car soon pays for itself (petrol is much cheaper in the Canaries).

Room Tip: Anywhere but facing the landslide.

We stayed at Playa Canaria over Xmas holidays and we really enjoyed it. I was 6 months pregnant so we were not after wild nights out and this hotel was just perfect. It's tucked away from the main town and therefore very quiet. The pool area is just lovely, that's where we spent most of the time, our room was overlooking the pool and it was very nice. There are nice gardens in the hotel for a little walk and it's only 5 mins drive into town (we had a hire car, which was very useful). The staff, especially reception staff, were lovely. All in all, a very nice hotel.

We stayed at this hotel for 2 weeks in February 2012. On arrival the hotel had no room reserved for us. Despite presenting the hotel with a printout of our confirmed reservation from Travel Republic they refused to allocate us a room, stating that they had not accepted the booking request from the agent (it turned out later that they had no rooms of the type we booked available). After an hour and much hassle they eventually allowed us to use the phone to call Travel Republic and shortly afterwards we were allocated a suite for the whole of our stay. We were not impressed with the way the hotel reception and management handled this problem, particularly in regard to communicating what was going on.
The suite we were initially allocated was quite nice, but being on the ground floor near the bar/entertainment area was very noisy. We later moved to another suite further away from the bar and that was fine (suites 1-5 are nearest the bar, 6-9 are further away and have a better layout). Apart from that, the food was reasonable, although not up to the high standard we have experienced on 3 previous visits to the Canaries. Drinks prices were reasonable, especially during the two happy hours. Lunchtime bar snacks awful. Very nice outdoor pool and gardens. We thought the spa was expensive, as was use of the room safe (about £50 for 2 weeks). Evening entertainment was mediocre at best (for ‘Casino Night’ read ‘Bingo’, for Carnival Night’ read ‘Fancy Dress Competition’!) Staff mostly OK, but with one or two exceptions not as friendly and helpful as previously experienced in the Canaries.
The majority of guests were Spanish, with quite a few Germans and just a handful of French and English – hence don’t expect much information to be available in English (only 2 TV channels in English - one news, one asian). Most staff just had a basic level of spoken English.
Despite several requests during and after our stay we never received an explanation from either the hotel or Travel Republic for why no room had been reserved for us, so we won’t risk using either organisation again.

Room Tip: If you want a quiet room, ask for one well away from the bar/entertainment area.

Dear Guests,

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback regarding our hotel. I am certainly disappointed that your stay was not all what it could have been.

I remember very well and since there was a small missundersting your booking. I already told him sometimes computer problems by transmission errors are not correctly, but we put all of our part to put the most appropriate means and the fastest way. Once admitted to the reserve were assigned a junior suite.

We regret not covering your expectations and we will be delighted if you offer us the opportunity to return to have you back in any of our establishments.

This hotel sits half way up in the hills above the sea, between Puerto de la Cruz and La Orotava. You would probably need a car to visit either. If you don't want a car, or don't drive, and plan on relaxing in the hotel, then bear in mind the following details. Tenerife, and indeed all the Canary Islands can be pretty cold in winter. We had daily temperatures of 14 degrees last week and that felt pretty cold, bearing in mind we had arrived expecting 20-25 degrees. You don't often get that in the winter months! Beware! One thing you can do when the weather is like this, is spend some time at the outdoor jacuzzi, annexed to the outdoor swimming pool. The jacuzzi is great, warm and fun. The pool is heated too, but not to the point that it is really nice just to jump in.

My daughter and I escaped to the spa area on one particularly cold day, hoping to be warmed up. But we were a bit disappointed that only one plunge pool was very warm, and all the rest ran from cold to freezing. The concept of the thermal baths here seems to be that it is a place you go to cool down from the hot sun (in summer) rather than warm up in winter.

This is a mainly Spanish hotel, not a problem for me as I speak Spanish fluently. Having a primarily older (OAP) Spanish clientele means that the food is very good overall. There is quite a bit of choice, and there is plenty of fresh salad and vegetables too.

The hotel itself is in need of a facelift, but is pretty well maintained, and overall clean. Staff are friendly and nice.

Overall, an enjoyable stay. This hotel does what it says on the tin. Price for 2 (1 adult, 1 child) was around 600 euros half board for one week. That's pretty reasonable overall.

But if you are looking for a bit of refinement and sophistication you will not find it here, or, arguably anywhere else at this price.

Room Tip: the rooms overlooking the teide are nice, particularly the higher rooms. you can always get a sea vi...

Dear Guests,

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback regarding. I am sorry so special family circumstances that happened and I feel what has happened.

If at that time were you could not help to solve your reservation was because there are a series of bureaucratic red tape and a domestic type of recruitment that requires a number of requirements to be able to cancel your reservation. At the time that the reservation you make any Web page, you is contracting with that website, not the hotel directly, possibly have internal hiring requirements in which the receptionists are not involved, nor can claim their situation to the hotel. So it has to get in touch directly with who you made the reservation.

We regret not covering your expectations and we will be delighted if you offer us the opportunity to return to have you back in any of our establishments.
