Just returned from a week at this hotel. Very difficult to find fault with it. The staff are very pleasant and willing to help. The hotel and grounds are spotlessly clean. The food choice is extensive and the quality is very good. We had a lovely room at the end of the corridor with wrap around balcony and found this very comfortable.
I am not sure what some people expect when on holiday, especially from reading some views if all you can find fault with is basically the tv. There are too few parasols around the pool for the number of sun beds, but you can find relief from the sun if you want it. The hotel appearance is exactly as seen in photographs, for either sea or poolside views. Not sure why someone would complain about the beach as this is not particularly related to the hotel; the beaches are quite small in comparison to others I have seen elsewhere but they seem to be very attractive to surfers and body boarders.
Would definitely stay here again. This was the first time in Tenerife and would re-visit Puerto de la Cruz, as it is very clean and due to the climate it is very green.

Stayed here between 27th September to 4th October with my wife. This is the best all inclusive venue we have stayed in and was better than expected, even after reading the mostly excellent reviews on Tripadvisor. I contacted the hotel via email to advise that we were celebrating our wedding anniversary and to request a room with a sea view. On arrival we were made most welcome and were delighted when we got to our room. We had been allocated a corner suite and the hotel had placed a bottle of Cava on ice in the room along with a lovely note to my wife and I hoping we would have a lovely stay with them.
The selection of food offered at the buffet during breakfast, lunch and dinner was excellent and varied. We also took advantage of the two A La Carte restaurants and whilst the menu is not extensive it was certainly very good. We will certainly return to this hotel, something we have not previously said about resort locations. Whilst sun beds are plentiful there are only a few parasols, however there is plenty of shade from the beautiful trees throughout the grounds adjacent to the pool. We opted to book internet access and found the reception to be OK although it is much stronger in the public areas than it was in our room.
The staff at this hotel work hard to ensure guests have the best possible experience during their stay. Anyone who finds fault with this venue must be incredibly hard to please.

This was our second Bahia Principe experience. We had stayed at the one in Costa Adeje the previous November, and were so impressed we gave them another go.

So how does the four star San Filipe measure up to its five star big brother down the road? The answer is very well indeed.

Our Standard room was compact but adequate - imagine a good Premier Inn and you're getting close - and our balcony gave us interesting views of the sea, the bustling street below, and the wonderfully brooding Mount Tiede. The bathroom wasn't the most luxurious we have ever enjoyed, and the shower head had been converted by a Spanish plumber to do that clever trick all Spanish shower heads seem to do; sending water cascading out from every part except the holes in the front. Oh, and to convert the mixer tap from Bath mode to Shower mode you are required to stand in the bath and turn on the tap while simultaneously pulling the little button thing with the other hand, then jumping smartly out of the way before you get scalded or frozen. I suspect the first Canarian moon launch is some way off yet.

We plumped for the all inclusive tariff, and we have to say the food in the buffet restaurant is excellent. A highlight was the nightly roast which, in typically unadventurous British fashion, we looked forward to immensely, and it was superb.

The main pool is heated, and the surrounding area is well kept and spotlessly clean. The configuration of the hotel - a towering block set in quite a small footprint - means that space is limited on very sunny days, so get down there early if you want a sun bed. I invented a little rhyme to help us remember to do this; weather forecast looks like heaven, towels down by half past seven.

Shops and bars abound within a few minutes' stroll if that's your thing, and the beach is literally a thirty second walk over a zebra crossing. Some of the pictures of the beach show it with golden sand. These are old pictures, the sand is black. Swimming in the lively surf should only be attempted by the young and the fit. If it knocks you off your feet - which it did - it's like falling off a bike onto Tarmac.

Minor niggles? Like the other all-inclusive Bahia Principe hotels, there is a complimentary mini bar in the room. Nothing flash, just two small beers, two bottles of water and four cans of soft drink, but it's an excellent idea because it gives the customer an extra feeling of specialness without actually costing the hotel very much. It was disappointing, then, to find out that it is only replenished on Tuesdays and Fridays. And they failed to replenish it on either Tuesday or Friday. A swift call to reception did the job on both occasions.

One other point you might like to consider. There are lizards. Lots of them. And while most are the usual tiddlers, some are a foot long. We loved them, but we did wonder how somebody would cope if they had lizardophobia, or whatever it's called. They keep themselves to themselves, but just be aware if you aren't keen on scuttly things.

And mind the dress code, gents. Long trousers only in the restaurant for dinner, and nothing sleeveless. Pack accordingly.

In summary, every bit as good as the five star one we stayed at last year. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Check how much they would charge to upgrade you to a corner room. These looked brilliant from the down below, with double patio doors and panoramic views. Might be worth it.

We were staying at the Bahia Principe Costa Adeje Hotel for 2 weeks, and took up our hotel's offer to visit another of their hotels Bahia Principe San Filipe in Puerto da la Cruz (all inclusive) for an overnight stay and an excursion visit to Loro Parque. The hotel is in a great location, right on the seafront, and right in the resort centre.

We were only there for one night and breakfast the next day but found the hotel and its staff very pleasant. We had a huge corner room on the 10th floor, with a huge balcony on both sides with amazing views of the resort, only 2 english tv channels Sky News/CNN. Unfortunately the bathroom was awful, dark, dingy and very dated, it really let the room down as the actual bedroom itself was lovely. We didnt bother with dinner at the hotel, we ate out instead there are quite a few restaurants locally. Breakfast in the hotel was plentiful and lots of choice on the buffet with very efficient service. The hotels bar and restaurant is small in comparison to the hotel in Costa Adeje, and the pool area is small, I personally wouldnt rate this hotel as a 4* Superior, more of a good 3 star hotel. It's nowhere near as grand or near the quality and appearance of the Bahia Principe at Costa Adeje, but it's still a nice hotel and in a great location.

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor room, we had a corner room on 10th floor facing the beach - great views

This is the second time I have stayed at this hotel. I am a solo traveller and have to say this hotel feels safe and has everything you need. The reception staff are very polite and helpful and speak english very well indeed. The rooms are always clean and well kept. There are even free toileteries for you to use when you arrive so save yourself the hastle of packing shampoo and shower gel and use the ones in the room. You can always but some more when your out there. The small gift shop in the hotel sells so much stuff and includes papers in many languages. Not just one english paper but at least 3 different ones. The food in the restaurant has been slated by some people on here but I have to say I always found something to eat and never had the same meal twice. If all inclusive the meals at lunch and evening are also different so you nkow food has not been left standing out all day. My only critisism is there do not seem to be enough umbrellas around the pool area. The pool area is always clean and is a sun trap so an umbrella is a must. Would I go back again. You bet. See you next year.

Room Tip: Pool view rooms also give fab views of mount teide. Sea view rooms can be noisy as you hear waves crashing at night-not good if your a light sleeper.
