Where do I start ! This hotel was clean and room was ok, but not very luxurious, did have a fridge and and ok bathroom. We had a balcony, but was at the back of the hotel, so nothing to look out on, not a nice place to sit ! The worst part was the food, it was dreadful, nothing was fresh, badly cooked, same meals every day, no variety. I am vegetarian and they did not cater for me at all, all the vegetables had bacon chopped up in them ! We had to buy food outside of the hotel. Breakfast was awful, cakes and coffee ! I was also disappointed that there was no entertainment in the evenings, although I was misled when I booked the holiday. There was a bar with cheap drinks for the first hour and everyone went in then, so it was packed and then they all seemed to drift off to the town to find entertainment. There was some Spanish music and dancing, but always the same thing - boring !!!! The Pool Bar was hardly ever open so you could not even get a drink. I would never go back to this Hotel, it was very drab and tired, needed updating. Staff were not friendly at all. Best part was that we had good weather !

The service is terrible, the staff are rude and the so called breakfast contains rotten fruit and dried out croissants. They gave us dirty towels and didn´t even care when we complained. The pool bar was never open. Never pick this crappy hotel.

We travelled to Tenerife on a university project and so 40 of us stayed in the Dania Park part of the Dania Magec complex. The hotel is actually two hotels, and you can use both facilities- though sometimes you didn't have a choice as they would only open up one restaurant. The road between the two hotels is a busy one-way street which also acts as the major bus station in Peurto de la Cruz. I wasn't expecting much at all from our hotel booking, we apparently only paid £60 for a week half board but I imagine that was group discount. Anyway:
Pros: Great central location, easy access to the rest of the island; rooms, lovely though as with any hotel, some have more noise than others, nice pool areas and plenty of sunbeds though this was out of season, lovely views of mount Teide.
Cons: Peurto is quite hilly, and this hotel is on the top of one of them, however once you go down about 3 metres worth of exceptionally steep hill it is relatively flat; The food, what was really irritating was the food, there was great choice and options for everyone but nothing was cooked well - despite even chips being cooked in front of you fresh! Even the salads and fruit wasn't fresh - it clearly is the last bits from a market stall to reduce costs but some of the 'fresh salad' was actually browning. Worst part was finding a cockroach in the cereal, although that could well have been a factory issue and nothing to do with the hotel. WiFi is also misleading - they sell '3 days' of wifi for €10 - but this is actually 72 hours worth - and so will probably do for more than a week so something to bear in mind.

We didn't experience the bar area though the time we went every single night was the Spanish dancing.

Overall, a good quality hotel in a great central location in a nice, pleasant resort in Tenerife. Peurto is very, very different to the south but equally as enjoyable as a tourist destination.

We stayed in Hotel Magec Room 2522 from 10th to the 17th March. It is the first time we have stayed in Magec - in the past we have always stayed in Magec Park (now an apartment block) or Dania across the road. Both Magec and Dania are now fully open - Dining Rooms/Bars/entertainment included. The worn and faded carpets have been removed from the corridors in both hotels and replaced by beautiful marble tiles - a marked improvement. It was nice to meet up with the staff we know and quite a few friends we see every visit. Fee for the Safe in the room is 15euros per week - rather a steep charge. Both hotels were full during the week we were there. The food in recent years has been adequate but not memorable. It was the same during this visit. We made up for it by having lunches in the numerous excellent Restaurants/Tapas Bars in town. Wine costs around £5 a bottle and is tolerable. The room does not have any spare sockets for hairdryers or for charging ipods and mobiles. The only two sockets are used up by tv and the fridge. The staff are friendly and helpful but not everyone speaks English fluently. It was the sunniest week we have had in March in Puerto in decades of visiting. We were sorry to have to return to freezing Britain at the end of our visit. We hope to return in due course next winter.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on a high floor facing the old Bus Station. These rooms get the sun in the afternoon...

We stayed for 3 weeks half board with Jet2.com package holiday from 26.2.13. We stayed in the Hotel Magec and were on the 6th floor. We had a view of Mount Teide and side sea view. Balcony had afternoon and evening sunshine. Not much traffic noise in our room (2622), but imagine if you had a room on the main road overlooking Hotel Dania Park that would be very noisy. There was a fridge and our room was cleaned every single day of our stay. Air-conditioning in room. Towels which we used were changed every day. The food was okay, but the restaurant could do with some refurbishment. Staff were pleasant and friendly. The hotel is in a good location in Puerto de la Cruz - very close to the bus station and the main Plaza/harbour area and shops. Majority of guests are senior Spanish on weekly visits, few Germans and a few Brits. Would stay at this hotel again. Good value for money and ideal location.

Room Tip: Try to get a room in Hotel Magec with a view of Mount Teide.

We went on a package tour with Jet 2.com on 12.3..13 for a week.
The Flight, Transfer from Airport in the Southa and B & B cost £690,
I reckon that the Hotel was no more than £30 per room per night and was good value.
It is positioned well in that u can get a bus to anywhere from a bus station 100 yrds away.
You can stroll to the main squar and San Telmo within 5/10 mins. Coming back is a bit longer because of the slopes.
We had a balcony above the bus station which could be a bit noisy but had a viw of Tiede and was in the sun from 13.00 to sunset. (Room 1427 is OK)

Breakfast is adequate and is essentially self service.
Bedrooms traditional and a bit dated but cleaned well every day.

Room Tip: 4th or 5th Floor overlooking Bus Station

I stayed here for 3 weeks. The highs, the bed and the fridge. The lows, no free internet connection and the food wasn't always up to much. I would stay there again most certainly, but wouldn't want a room facing their sister hotel looking across the road. I found the staff generally cheerful and obliging; the cleaners brilliant. The location is central for everything, also very handy so close to the bus station. Mainly senior Spanish, Germans and some Brits.

Room Tip: Not a hotel for honeymooners or young families.
