We really enjoyed our week at Hotel Botanico. The hotel was very clean and extremely comfortable, and we loved the art work. The hotel gardens are lush and beautiful, and we enjoyed watching the black swan and her cygnets. In fact, this hotel is a great place for bird lovers. It is the first place that we've stayed in with breakfast room windows onto a huge aviary!

The spa is first class. I love swimming and the pools here were wonderfully tranquil and very special.

We'd recommend anyone staying here to take advantage of the spa treatments. We both had massages, used the gym facilities and played tennis. We will be bringing our own racquets next time.

The food was great - particularly at breakfast time - but a little more vegetarian choice for dinner would be appreciated. As for service - it was truly excellent. Everyone working at the Botanico seems to have great pride in the work and the team spirit in the hotel was very evident.

We stayed for 2 nights at the Botanico and it was stunning, we arrived late after our flight so we chose to eat in the Spanish Restaurant upstairs- great attentive service with wine and water topped up all oppurtunities. Food was very good, we had a bottle of local wine and 2 mains with 2 desserts for 75 euros. Which we thought was very acceptable. The Breakfast buffet like the reviews below is simply mind blowing with so much choice I had to walk round 4 times before I decided what i was going to have. There are chefs on hand to cook freshly filled omlettes should you prefer and even a chocolate fountain with marshmellows for breakfast!! We ate inside on day 1 and out outside on day 2 both very good. The japanese Spa is top notch and you leave feeling totally relaxed , I could hardly put one foot in front of the other!! i was so chilled out. You must try the jacuzzi in the cave if you get chance. If you like Coy Carp there are some absolute beauties to look at in the ponds around the resort.

Room Tip: A real minor one but ask for a room with a walk in shower, it was a little awkward to work the older...

I had read lots of reviews on Trip Advisor before I booked this holiday and I am glad we found this Hotel. Situated about a 15 minute walk away from the centre of Puerto it was a fantiastically tranquil setting.
From check in - our flight was late we were given a complimentary fruit cocktail on arrival and the staff were exceedingly helpful and wanting to ensure we had a pleasant stay.
The double room was spacious and had a lovely room - my only two gripes were that the double is in fact two single beds - though they were comfy and you also had a choice of pillow. There were also no tea or cofee making facilities in the room - which we did miss our cup of tea in the evening ! The free wi-fi was also a great added bonus.
There were dressing gowns and slippers provided, as well as the usual soap/shampoo/shower gel etc.
The hotel doe have an in house laundry but on request the can provide an iron and ironing board.
Breakfast was a huge selection of fruit, cereal, meats, cheeses, as well as a hot selection. The staff at breakfast were again very curtious.
The hotel has an outside pool which was fairly warm - though deep ! There is also a small childrens paddling pool. The spa was amazing, the area was clean and tidy, there was a beautiful indoor heated pool as well as a jacuzzi and various steam rooms - I especially loved the aromatheraphy one. Outside there was another pool and jacuzzi again in beautiful surroundings.
During the day various activities were held I especially enjoyed the Thai chi, wine tasting and tapas selection.
There are four places to eat in the hotel - pool side, the thai, itallian and spanish when we were there the itallian was closed. We ate at La Parilla twice - the service and food were excellent but the food is on the pricy side and I wish we had gone half board. The pool side resturant food was plentiful, beautifully presented and again the staff were excellent - even not laughing at my terrible attempt of speaking spanish.
The bar area was exceedingly spacious and the staff provided a huge range of standard drinks and cocktails - the spirit measures were overly generous, again the staff were excellent. Jose Luis who works at the bar explained he had worked there 34 years - a testomony to someone who obviously enjoys his work and working environment and he was again exceedingly helpful, polite and helped me out with my terrible spanish !
The grounds and gardens within the hotel are quite simply stunning, going in May most of the flowers were in bloom and this made for a stunning spectacle. The grounds were beautifully manitained and a credit to the hotel.
We paid extra for a late check out which included lunch - this came in handy for our late flight home.
It was an amazing hotel, with lovely staff and we will definately be going again !

This was my third stay at Botanico, and I just wonder what has happened during one year...
I had an Ambassador suite with ocean view. The suite has a large balcong, marvellous views over the city ---and plastic white chairs! Very "cool".
The staff was friendly, especially the students (?) in the lobby bar and escorting to a table for breakfast. The breakfast was all the same,I´d prefere more fresh fruits. The waiters were in a great hurry and somewhat tense. So I ordered breakfast to my room: the service was excellent and punctual. To communicate with the reception was not easy: I asked if they had slippers to buy for a souvenier, a man looked ashtonished as if he did not know what I was asking. I showed my sandals and then he realised---there was not the right size. Check-out was a surprise but I realised it at home. I had given my credit card when reserved the room and at the arrival,so I expected they charge credit. In Europe we live the time of SEPA, so the receptionist girl just choosed debit without asking me how I want to pay. -Have to mention Botanico was not the only place in PDL where was the sametype of charging during this visit. So be careful.

We stayed at the Hotel Botanico for 10 days. The room/bed was very comfortable and the facilities are what you would expect from a 5* hotel. The gardens were a delight and wonderfully maintained. There was always plenty of room around the pool and shade if you preferred. The visited the Spa and enjoyed a Japanese Sauna and a dip in the massage pool, all very invigorating! We also enjoyed a leg and back massage which was very professionally done and in a comfortable and luxurious room. Robes a flip flops are provided FOC.
We opted for half board and although expensive perhaps at £30 pp per night, the food was beautifully and expertly prepared. There are three restaurants to choose from - Italian, Canarian and Thai. Our favourite was the Thai, followed by the Italian, but the Canarian was good too, but perhaps not so much to our taste. The service in all Restaurants was impeccable and you only had to raise you head to receive service, but then that was true of the whole hotel. Be warned though, the helpings are generous!
Now, what about breakfast! Well I think the term 'abundance of choice' is suitable here, a larger spread you will not find and the quality is superb. Those staying B&B come down late and skip lunch. I have visited numerous hotels over the years and this breakfast beats the lot.
An example of the excellent service was the free Wi-Fi on offer. The one in our room broke down. Having reported this to reception, we popped out for 10 mins to buy a paper; on our return the item was replaced!
Car hire, go to the local Tourist Office in Puerto de la Cruz. I surfed for ages trying to find a suitable car hire firm without any issues, such as loaded insurance, or added fuel charges. The tourist office arranged a VW Polo 1.4 for 30 Euros a day for three days. Included all insurances and the petrol was 'return as received'.

We travelled with Thomson, which included free transfers from the airport. Although we did not pay for it, we appeared to have been upgraded to a sea view, perhaps because we paid extra for half-board? Or perhaps the hotel was not full. In any event it was appreciated.

On the last day we were allowed to stay longer in our room FOC until 4pm, although you could extend this further and have a lunch included for an extra 25 Euros pp.

Our room was 445 overlooking the Putting Green and the sea in the distance. Yes you are about 15mins walk down the hill to the coast, but the advantage is the silence at night and the lack of traffic noise. The hotel has a Minibus to take you to the shopping Centre, although a taxi in Puerto will only cost you 3 Euros a time to get back to the hotel from the town.
We had a lovely time and would recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Puerto, especially if you want a real break with lots of rest and recuperation!!

Room Tip: 445 is on the fourth floor and has a sea view and is quiet

Went fo 2 days last Feb with partner and daughter, I must say customer service was EXCELLENT, they noticed it was my partners birthday and sent a cake and champagne up which impressed me.

Rooms (we had an interconnecting pair of rooms) were starting to look old and the ambience was OLD OLD OLD. Felt very out of place as we were all under 85.
