We were greeted by the avuncular chef who took our order and then went and cooked the fish which was removed from the tank in front of our noses.
Lovely lunching on the little terrace down a picturesque alleyway to dishes of perfectly cooked local fish followed by an interesting selection of Canarian Cheese; all washed down with easily the best local white wine we tasted. It was a bit more expensive but well worth it; a pity we didn't take details.

This was easily the best meal we had in Tenerife, at no greater cost.

Great food.

Best sirlion with pepper sause I'd tastet ever. Top Service. They used fresh ingrediences and prepared food that wasnt on the meny just for us. For example one day the cook came with fresh cantarelles and asked if we'd want him to make us something with them.
Words cannot describe how Great this place was. You got to try this restaurante.
For dessert Try chocolate fondant. Heavenly!! You'll find this place nearby plaza de charco.

We had paella (mixta) at Los Tulipanes the other night, it tasted fine, but was to "watery" at the bottom of the pan. It was far from the best paella we've had, but ok... until we found out about the price: 22 EUR each - Yeah you heard right: 44 EUR for the pan the two of us had! Service was very good, atmosphere in that little street great, but it kind of ruins the total experience to have a medium taste paella for that price (lot of places in town offer good paella from 10-15EUR). Of course we did a mistake, to not ask about the price before, but the only a restaurant with the most delicious paella should allow it self to charge that kind of price.

We visited Los Tulipanes on Jan 20th 2014 as a result of the glowing reviews on Trip Advisor.
The restaurant is tastefully decorated and the staff member on duty was friendly and welcoming.
We are fish eating vegetarians and having checked the menu on the previous day there were 5 fish dishes any of which we could have eaten. On the night NONE of these dishes were available but there was fresh Dorada, Lubina and another fish which I did not catch the name of. These fish were being served grilled with salad and Canarian potatoes.
We shared a starter of Mussels cooked in white wine and these were tasty and a good sized serving. It is a personal choice of course but we like our mussels cooked with a little onion and garlic and a generous helping of wine and this was not the case BUT the mussels were tasty.
The fish was again a generous helping, was well grilled and tasty with more than enough salad but apart from the Canarian potatoes one could have been eating the same dish anywhere.
We had 2 glasses of house white wine which was very nice and then I had a glass of house red which was ok but not great. We thought all the measures were mean perhaps 125/150 ml which at €3.09 a glass is surprising given the many very good Spanish wines which can be bought so cheaply. ( Perhaps the wines were Canarian which would be more expensive but even so)
I am always wary when offered fresh fish in a restaurant because there is no price on the menu and it is sold by weight. Ours cost €17.75 each which is not dissimilar from UK prices but we weren't in the UK. Overall one could not complain about the food but we considered it disappointing value.
