“Gathering place for elderly germans en english”
Reviewed January 8, 2012

Went here because of positive reviews about the place. The food was actually quite good although the portions were small and the price relatively high. Service was friendly but because the restaurant was full also a bit slow. Being close to 50 we seriously lowered the average age of the people in there. The decor would have been ok 25 years ago.

“What kind of client are you?”
Reviewed September 9, 2011

The decoration is cosy, and homey, but in a stylish way.
The service is friendly and personal, specially to the regular (resident) client . As dishes are prepared fresh ( I think) and the kitchen is small, (you can see that) we had to wait quite some time for the food , which is not too stylish after all.
Generally, our dishes were presented rather well cooked, not to say mushy, with plenty of sauce, which is not our kind of taste.
I think that the food and the athmosphere appeals to a rather mature clientel, which is ok for me when you go with your grand parents.
The wine selection did not convince me at all, considering that there is excellent canarian wine on the market. Unfortunately, there is nothing to be found of that in the menue. What a pity!

“Don't miss it - thank you trip advisor”
Reviewed July 27, 2011

In the midst of all these tourist restaurants this was unmissable. The decor was like stepping back into a european aunt's living room and the staff equally friendly - we all ended up kissing the owner on both cheeks as we left. The food was delicious - the best in Tenerife and we went to a lot of good restaurants. If you want a beautiful evening in with a small group of friends, or a date, this is a must.

“Easily missed - been going to Puerto for 25+ years and did not know the Tucan was here”
Reviewed July 9, 2011

Fantastic menu and food to die for. The surroundings are very different using chandeliers, chintzy fabric, spotless table linen etc. Spent the first 15 mins looking at furniture!!!
The owners have been here for 18 years and only because I had read reviews on Trip Ad did I realize where the Tucan was - must have passed by the corner hundreds of times over the years - this is truly a hidden gem. The owners are really friendly nothing too much trouble - my mother is going to P de la Cruz in 4 weeks and she will definitely visit. Someone compared it to the Magnolia (another favorite) but I felt the Tucan was better and not expensive - good value for money.
