Highly recommended trip for you and the family. You have to be a comfortable driver to go to Masca by hire car. Hiring a car costs around 25-30 euros. Should be cheaper if you book in advance.

I need to point out that the drive to masca is NOT dangerous. BUT it can be a scary. The last 2-3 miles are single lane when you come of the motorway. Although there is still enough space for 2 cars to get past. The problem is when their is a coach in front of you. There are lots of passing opportunities throughout this drive (every around 400 metres). Plus, there are lots of spaces to stop and take pictures. If you are a confident driver, and love TopGear.. then go to Masca, you won't regret it!

For the trek you need to get their early. We get their late in the day and just looked around the nice village. There are lots of little restaurants and shops in the villages. Views of the coast and valley are spectacular. That's why you just can't miss this from your trip to Tenerife!

Visited Masca on our day out touring the island by car, stunning drive up the mountains not for the faint hearted though. Really enjoyed the short walk down to the viewing point and purchasing fresh plums from one of the local farmers. There were a few places to eat or drink which were slightly pricier than i had imagined. An all round, well worth it trip.

We made the mistake of not bring good walking shoes, so did not take the trek down the sea. We will next time. The views and the drive along the mountain roads are very impressive. We also should have allowed more time, but never expected it to be so captivating.

Masca is my idea of a wonderful day out. A 2h trek each way through beautiful, steep surroundings with amazing weather and views.

Possible to take a bus to Masca and a water taxi from the beach home.

A warning for the inexperienced and less fit, and those with vertigo or young children: it took some people we saw well over 3 hours to descend, and some looked terrified. This, and the slippery conditions after rainfall could make it dangerous.

Did the Masca trek with my son in June ,like the other reviews we parked the car at Las Gigantes (beware it is hard to find a free parking spot from mid morning onwards we ended up parking by the harbour and it cost about 12 euros) then went by taxi to Masca 23 euros the walk it self took about 3 hours very uneven ground lots of boulders to climb over and very hot ,good pair of trainers at least plenty of water are a must .I am a reasonably fit 71 year old and didn't find it to difficult although the old legs ached a bit next day.We caught the boat taxi back to Las Gigantes booked through Flipper uno in L A.,The boat took us out to sea where we saw dolphins which made it a really good day out
