This apartment could be perfect. It is bright and spacious and in a great location. The living room is attractively furnished there is lots of wardrobe space and the second bathroom is modern. The kitchen is well stocked with nice china and cooking utensils etc.
However we had several issues which really spoilt our stay, most could have been avoided if the rental had been overseen by someone and if the owner gave more consideration to the comfort and smooth running of the place.
We arrived to find that there was no key in the allotted place to allow us access and we were actually left standing in the street..Luckily a neighbour was home and let us in.
There was a faulty wall socket in the bedroom and no light at all in one of the other bedrooms.
The shower drain was blocked and so the shower flooded.
There were no instructions anywhere regarding appliances, contact numbers, emergency numbers, useful local information ,where to put out the garbage etc.
It was too cool to eat outside but there is no dining table in the apartment, the beautiful dining set on the patio was too heavy to bring inside.
The back patio table was in a dreadful condition the owners response was it should be covered with a cloth and glass top ..but it wasn't!
We were "allocated" one small towel and one bath towel each.
After contacting the owner she arranged for the cleaner to come.
He saw to all the repairs and problems and unlocked a large and well stocked linen wardrobe but said the owner had asked him to keep it locked as previous tenants had used too many towels!
The back patio flooded after an evening of rain..and the water laid for 5 days until it dried up ,there was no proper drainage. The owners response to this was that it normally doesn't rain in Tenerife.
There was an iron but no ironing board. No trays to carry food out to the outside tables.
The freezer was jammed with ice and the fridge seal is going and so the door had to be continually pushed shut.
The kitchen work tops are stained.
The ensuite badly needs updating the ,the toilet roll holder fell off the wall and the toilet broke.
The owner was contacted many times..she made excuses as to why things weren't right but didn't seem to accept that everything should have been checked and in order and before we arrived.
In fairness the cleaner Dave was helpful and did make everything right that he could but we had no contact number for him and had to wait until we complained to the owner and she could contact him.
It seemed to us that there was simply a lack of thought and organisation and no attention to detail ...all these problems could be addressed if there was someone to oversee this property which could be five star with more effort and thought.
This Villa has all you will need for a perfect self catering holiday. We enjoyed our stay immensely. Very spacious privately positioned and peaceful. Large shady front terrace for outside dining. Beautiful views to the ocean and rock of Gigantes. We especially enjoyed the spectacular sunsets from the front terrace.
There are 2 local supermarkets nearby also many good local restaurants
within walking distance. We recommend especially Tipsey Terrace and Jardin Del Sol ( in the market place ). This was our first stay in The Arches and do hope to return one day.
Very spacious three bedroom appartment with two bathrooms. It was good to have small garden at back and front, although as it faces basically West not a lot of sun on the front. Great views out towards the cliffs (if you ignore the huge Thomsons hotel - how did that ever get planning permission) and the ocean. Very nice area and easy to walk up to Tipsy Terrace and into town, or along the coast (although very hilly (!) good for running). Parking was easy, restaurants in town good and a short drive to the supermarket. The weather wasn't hot enough to eat outside so we took the table and chairs into the living room which worked fine and the kitchen was well eqipped to allow us to eat in every other evening.
